I'm sure Wheels would have asked around and found out what sort of kid Caleb is before crafting his speech. He's had to fight every inch of the way to get to this point so I doubt any of Wheeler's words would have overwhelmed him.

And really, it was for all the players.

I think we lost round one and for some reason I think he was sacked after a significant loss to Geelong.

My understanding is the direction Wheeler was charged with was to get the players focused on doing exceptionally well in the preseason competition to help raise our membership numbers and in the end we failed miserably. This put pressure right on Wheeler.
After the Geelong loss it tipped over.
Wheeler had chased Richard Osborne hard only to have him leave during the preseason to try his hand at punting for Gridiron. Wheeler believed that Osborne could have made all the difference.

As was at training a day or so after Wheeler was sacked and Osborne had come back to the club and was at training. I think he had a slight hamstring twinge but played in the reserves and kicked 6 or 7 goals.

Daniels is a luck young fellow to have Wheeler give a speech to the group.
