Norwood midfielder Peter Bampton is set to make his presence felt after being included in the McDonald’s SA Under-18 team to face Victoria Metro at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

Bampton, who missed last year’s AFL National Championships with injury, is one of five inclusions for the clash with SA’s arch-rival.

The 19-year-old has been joined by North Adelaide trio Keiran Agius – an AFL Academy Member – Maris Olekalns and Will Combe while Glenelg’s Mason Redman has been named in a forward pocket.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, McDonald’s SA Under-18 coach Brenton Phillips said Sturt forward Jordan Dawson couldn’t be considered due to concussion received in the one-point loss to Western Australia last Saturday.

Norwood’s Harry Cross, Rooster Mark Quinn and Central District pair Kyle Presbury and Isaya McKenzie have been squeezed out of SA’s 23-man squad.

A day out for big man Josh Schache, who kicked 8.4 from 24 disp & 7 marks in Vic Country's 105-pt win over WA. He's in top-five draft range.

Son of The late Laurence, who played for the old Bears.
Nice story when he gets drafted. Dad was from Adelaide?

McDonald’s SA Under-18 coach Brenton Phillips has made four changes to his side to face Western Australia at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

With AFL rules stating a minimum of 30 players must play at least two matches in the Under-18 National Championships, Phillips has brought in North’s Jack Graham (180cm and 77kg), Sturt’s Campbell Wildman (186cm and 75kg), Tiger Justin Evans (185cm and 77kg) and
big-bodied West midfielder Jaydn Brind (180cm and 92kg).

As a result, Keiran Agius, Jonty Scharenberg, Peter Bampton and Cameron Hewett have been squeezed out of the 23-man squad, with the latter two acting as emergencies.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, Phillips declared his men were bracing themselves for a response from the Sandgropers, who are coming off a 104-point loss to Victoria Country in Perth last weekend.

Phillips also speaks about the players coming into this week’s team while also chatting about Sturt’s win in the Under-16 Macca’s Talent Shield Grand Final against South last Saturday.

I've been a spectator at WA's two games so far and will happily take questions if anyone is interested.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

The obvious questions, who are your top three or four that you think will be drafted and are there any potential top 5 draft players at this stage of the season.
