Does 7 do catchup on the VFL?

Daniel: The next to debut. Generally used it well, and he is very good at assessing his options by hand and withdrawing the handball as he is halfway through actioning it. Very impressive and probably the one guy who genuinely looked as if he belongs at the next level.

Biggs: Accumulated a lot of the footy but for mine didn't use it particularly well or creatively. He was solid, not outstanding. I've been underwhelmed with what I've seen of Biggs, I was expecting much more.

Cordy: 6 goals from 8 disposals (?). Was very good up forward and good in the ruck especially early.
Caleb Daniel has that priceless ability where the game just seems to slow to a crawl in front of him when he has the ball in his hands. All of a sudden there are options or gaps to run through everywhere.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I couldn't find one, but check this page tomorrow or during the week and it may be up.

I thought Daniel was excellent .
Has a rare commodity of being efficient and intelligent with ball in hand .
We seem to have a plethora of Half back types
Didn't think we were lucky ,and in fact dominated the last quarter .
Good to see Ayce clunk a few as well, but Redpath seems to be treading water.
Might be difficult to get to last years heights, but it's pleasing having a good VFL outfit

I thought we dominated most of the match. We had 29 scoring shots we deserved to win..

Considering Boyd and Murph are in the twilight, you'd hope we have a plan in mind across half back for the years ahead. Obviously we are getting games into Webb at the moment but would love to see Darley and Biggs to also get some time through out the year, to see if they're up to it.

Zaine may be a good replacement for one of them, depending on how mobile he is (maybe could fill in Boyd's spot?)

Finally got around to watching this.

Caleb Daniel is like a mini Sam Mitchell clone. Keeps his balance at all times and does that pivot-stop-kick that inevitably hits up a sneaky leading target. If he was 10cm taller, he'd be the most hyped young mid prospect going around. And we wouldn't have had access to him.

A weakness of both the seniors and seconds is our propensity to just bang the ball long when going forward. Daniel's game is the perfect antidote to this. Always lowers his eyes and makes great decisions.

Was once again impressed by Smith's game, especially late. Has a great size and oozes athleticism. Has a bit of Easton Wood about him.

Biggs was prolific and was used at every opportunity by his teammates, but doesn't have enough hurt factor for mine. Still, is very handy as a depth player.

Cordy was the difference in the end. Loved his last big mark and goal. Did it easy in the ruck, too. How is it possible to get 40+ hit outs in a VFL game and not get near it in the AFL?
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

The quality of big men at VFL level is extremely limited. The difference between a first ruck at AFL level and VFL level is enormous. Although not in the ruck, at one stage they mentioned Cordy had 11cms on his opponent when resting forward.

Last year I sat with Minson at a function and asked him about the difference in VFL versus AFL. He said well take it this way, if he can average over 30 disposals at VFL level then it is a big difference.

The strength of players playing first ruck, their craftiness and the way ruck contests are approached strategically makes a big difference.

Ayce doesn't get a chance to jump in the seniors, his opponents take his lower body early and he can't compete. There's just not enough strength through his legs and core.
                              TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

The core strength thing is an issue. I was wondering why Ayce didn't even seem to put his hand up to contest the ruck until I watched him and realised that his opponents are pretty much taking his legs out at each ball up and bounce.
