I think Zaine could be the swingman we need.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

He doesn't look like a flanker to me

If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

I've always thought he was on track to become a genuine KPD.

                Steven May is shorter.

Kieren Collins is around the same height and people are claiming him to be a stand out KPD this year.

Marcus Adams is shorter yet is considered one of the best mature prospects available this year.

Zaine will be the third tall in defence and go forward when required.

We've already had the dud brother.

Is a defence of Roberts, Hamling and Cordy 'big' enough?

It's more around the question of taking potential star players that don't really fit our short term needs as opposed to perhaps taking players that have a lower ceiling but our more specific to our short term needs.

Do you think that Ayce's general failure / spudness might have pushed down the 'price' for Zaine?

What attributes are you looking at in terms of a 'star' player, in regards to our team? There are obvious traits for those draftees higher up the order but as we move lower down the order it becomes more difficult to identify a star player.

There are probably players like Rioli and Ah Chee that have that really classy quality about them that could slip to our picks. Great players to have but would we take them at the expense of players that fit a few other of our needs?

Not being too familiar with draftees but do you mean a player such as a Wingard or a Betts type? Players who can dazzle rather than players who meet our specific needs.

It is hard to say. For our first two I would go best player available and from then on probably specific needs such as a key backman. It depends on what is available.

It certainly doesn't hurt to have a couple of star players who can make an impact in their first couple of seasons. Provides us with depth and cover.

I think the star quality is not so obvious in this draft. There's certainly some gems near the top of the pecking order but I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years time we are shaking our heads in disbelief that a star player selected with a low pick could have been so overlooked.

I have no doubt that a clever recruiter or two will pull a surprise with one of their selections that will send the internet draft junkies into a state of hysteria and outrage (one of my enjoyments on draft day!).
