    Should we look at him?

For the Footscray VFL watchers which VFL listed players could we look at getting possibly bearing in mind that VFL level to AFL level is a big step up.

Really only Hannan, IMO. Dalgliesh is talented but has already been tried at Essendon and didn't make the grade.

Last year I was pretty keen on Nick Coghlan and he ended up at the Saints.

If we were to take a player based on solid form, it would be Hayes first as he has the runs on the board over the three years.

If we were to take a player purely on speculation of what he could be, then Hannan is worth a try.

A rookie pick is the perfect chance for some speculation. Hayes is a good little footballer, but very vanilla and doesn't have any tricks that will transfer to AFL and allow him to stand out. Perhaps the same thing was said about Picken all those years ago but he always had that extreme hard edge and general bastardry that you can't teach and has its place at the top level. That he has become quite skilful and versatile has been a great bonus.

Hannan is the perfect rookie pick.

What about Long Smads? He really looks a likely type.

Good to see Hamilton with 29 disposals and a couple of goals.

Thinking the same thing. His re-signing through the week might have helped his mindset too. I would imagine it could be a strain on certain players not knowing what their future holds.

Agree he looked clean and was able to get amongst the goals (including the first for the day). Late in the game the ball was kicked into a pack of players and one of the Footscray players flew above the pack but missed the mark. Had it stuck it would have been mark of the day. I am sure it was Long who was the flyer. Interested if anyone at the game seen the same thing (last quarter).
