I don't know any of the answers but those things also need to be looked at more than just percentage.
Talking the AFL: Yes if you play a defensive type game goals will be few and far between. Now it's about having strong attack so hopefully our talls on Boyd and Schache are good in this department. Mid 00s defensive mindset.

We bucked the trend with our premiership a strong defence but also the way we pressured teams was just great. Need to get that pressure back this year in the AFL as in 17 it only there in bits.

Sit through the last quarter of the final against Port Melbourne and get back to me.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I reckon Monfries will kick about a thousand goals at VFL level this year.

It's going to get frustrating eventually that the best kick for goal in the whole club isn't eligible to play seniors.

Get paid double playing local footy and it's cash in hand.
                Why wouldn't you .

I was thinking the same thing. Footscray would be great if you still harboured a dream of playing AFL or you were one of those "live to compete" types but if footy isn't a major passion you might as well play local footy. Like you say twice the money and it's for half the commitment. I saw Wayde a Skipper playing for Caroline Springs on Saturday. I wonder how much he's on? If it's anymore than a couple of beers after the game then he's getting too much! He looked even slower than he did when he was playing AFL and for some reason his teammates weren't keen at all to kick it to him.

You play VFL to add to your resume if you want to go into coaching when you retire.
Do it for a couple of years and you just upped your price in playing local and coaching.

Which makes it fantastic that we can recruit and retain guys like Monfries and in recent years Jordan Russell.

It's like advertising yourself on the best show on tv. Second best show really but you know what I mean.

It must be a little bit easier that we can offer team success and finals. Most footballers still want to win flags, that's why the good ones still want to play in later life.

Maybe they offer those players more , I don't know if their is a salary cap in VFL , but I would think some players would get more than others , but as a VFL player from the country I know one who was getting $400 a game and taxed but if he played at his local club it was $800 cash in hand.
