The back line was held together beautifully by Coffield , Gardner and Duryea Gardner in particular had a great day taking 12 marks and had 24 disposals , he wasnt alone with Coffield taking 13 marks and having 23 disposals , Duryea had a game high 32 disposals and 8 marks , Jaques chiped in with 15 disposals and 6 marks , Luke Kennedy was arguably BOG , with 29 disposals and 3 goals , i think his best display this year. Anthony Scott got plenty of the ball with 30 disposals , his best game to date this year . Arty Jones played a solid game attacking the ball with ferocity and pace for one of the better games iv seen him play this year , picking up 25 disposals , which is a big number for Arty. Lachlan Smith continues to impress , his getting better with every game he plays , today he got 39 hitouts and kicked a goal against a seasoned campaigner in Tom Cambell , the only thing his lacking right now to be a dominant ruckman in the VFL , is his marking around the ground , today in perfect conditions he only took 1 mark , so if he can slowly accumulate more marks each game he really has a future in the game , of the other AFL listed players Cooper Hynes was quiet only picking up 6 disposals , and didnt bother the scorer much with only 1 points to his credit , Josh Dolan ran well to make postion but wasnt always used and finished the day with 11 disposals and didnt bother the scorer at all . Footscray played well considering they had only 10 AFL listed players with both Busslinger and Baker travelling with the senior side . Chan Hagraves did well kicking 4 goals , Billy Crofts ran hard all day and kicked 2 goals along with his 15 disposals . Footscray now with 4 wins travel to Williamstown next week .
    Thanks for that; great summation.
Lachie Smith has impressed me since he's been at the club. Has shouldered the ruck work and he's only 19 and a half. Listed as 203cm which surprises me as he always seems to be shorter than his opponent.

Please don't take it as a criticism, Chef was trying to help because it is very difficult to read on a screen without some spacing. Keep up the good work.

There's no need to be so defensive. It's great that you shared your observations as everyone has already said. If you want people to read and understand them then yeah, some paragraphs will help more people do that and appreciate your insights.

NAUGHTY100's post was an outstanding report but I can understand why you suggest paragraphs.

We need to give him a go. Vanders and McNiel would struggle to kick3 in the VFL. he has done it so he is already ahead of them around goals. Dolan and Hynes also didnt get a bag so he gone ahead of them. We need forwards badly! Buku McNiel VDM Dolan Hynes Naughton have delivered stuff all. We need to find forwards quickly. Possibly look at M Kennedy and Harmes full time and Davidson for Half a game. Rather see English down there for some periods especially if Naughton getting monstered. L Kennedy could be great if we have others that can worry the opposition.

McNeil has kicked a goal in every game this year. Like him or not, as a small forward that is contributing his share. As a pressure forward his current goal numbers don't worry me.

His goal numbers are ok, but for a team winning lots of I50's his output is seriously underwhelming.

I was hoping for more than averaging what he is at the moment, with my expectations in the brackets. He needs to get more involved rather than being largely invisible. With players missing he has been given (gifted) a big opportunity to lock down a spot and he hasn't quite taken it.

                        11 disposals (15)
                        2 marks (4)
                        2 tackles (4)
                        1 goal (1.5)

His disposal and maybe more importantly tackle numbers are lower than I'd like. I actually found your point in anther thread interesting, pointing out the influence of Rioli and Noble. I wonder how much responsibility for that is attributed to our smalls or whether the zone defense means you can't really assign that blame to individual players?

Mcniel is never in the right spot for a crumb and seems to be not involved in most forward plays. He was clearly on Noble in the last qtr and was soundly beaten for the first 3 qtrs. He has kicked a goal a game and most of them in the last qtr in junk time. Kennedy has kicked more from the midfield. Vandermeer kicked 2 in the 3rd qtr and they were his first goals for weeks. Cannot play of them forward for the outputs they are giving us. West is not getting alot of the footy but he is doing dangerous things, they need to be more dangerous to give the opposition to worry about. Or they need to tag a half back out of the game so we can say they did that role really well. At moment we getting neither.

One of the aspects of WOOF I admire, apart from great content, is the respect shown to others.
