Hynes off limping after kicking that goal , not sure how bad it is . He was feeling his ankle area .

Solid effort, nothing overly great though.
Hynes was very good. Our back line wuth Busslinger, Jones and Coffield was solid.
I thought Smith was very flat. I can't recall even one mark for the day which probably indicates they defenders don't look to utilise him with their clearance kicks.
Jaques was okay but Kennedy is a long way off it at the moment.

His pristine WA immune system couldn't handle a Melbourne winter.

Baker is very frustrating he goes in hard and runs hard but he continues to run to far a lot or tries to do too much with the ball and get caught , his disposal is terrible , he also makes some very junior football mistakes .
He should never play in the backline .

Gosh Smith was disappointing today. I wonder whether, in general, he offers much.

Hynes and Busslinger were good and did more than enough to warrant consideration for the Saints game.

Of the rest it was snakes and ladders - two up, then two down. Jacques shows potential but doesn’t demand your attention, Poulter has moments but you just don’t have the confidence in him, Jones was OK and deserves consideration, Gallagher works hard and well, and then destroys it all by butchering his disposal, Baker did well but he’s another who struggle's at AFL level, Kennedy struggled, and Coffield looked good until someone got in front of him and he had to chase. He’s slower than my mum, and she’s no longer with us.

Has his role changed at VFL level?

Not long ago he had 30 and 3...then it feels like he has averaged 15-20 touches the past month. I wondered whether we had moved him to a half forward flank in preparation for what his AFL role would be more likely to be.

Played as a midfielder yesterday so I doubt there has been a role change Yesterday he just couldn't get involved.

Agree Critter with your assessment on Coffield , dont know if he was ever quick , but that knee injury has taken at least 2 yards off his pace , which means in senior football unless he has 2 or 3 yards on any opponent he has to get rid of the ball the second he gets it , or be under pressure , which dosnt bode well for his disposal .
If Hynes hasnt hurt himself ( came off limping just before the end ) he should come into the senior side , played his best game of the year yesterday , collected around 30 possession and deserves a chance , his one of our future prospects and the more games we get into him the better.
