Hynes is such a bull, so much time in the contest and can’t be brought down in a tackle. He might actually make us feel reasonably okay about the Baz trade when all is said and done.

All of Jacques Hynes & Dolan are looking fantastic - all very different types of players too and all positions of need. 3rd tall/mid, small forward and an outside flanker/winger (not sure where Jacques settles yet - looks like he can play anywhere)

Davo a bit quieter today but had an immense year and a high quality young wing.

Looking like an unbelievable draft.

Jaques i think plays half back or wing his marking is very good and his kicking is very neat .
Agree Hynes and Dolan look very promising , and on todays showing Croft looks like he wants to be part of our next generation .

I like CCP I reckon he is better than Sullivan? Thoughts?

I would play him off HB its the easiest position to play/learn at the highest level.

I think as far as pure leg speed he lacks a little bit , not saying his slow by any means its just at his height clubs seem to want something elite be it speed or marking or a big tank , C.C.P. isnt elite at anythng in my opinion but is almost there in most of his attributes , definatly belive he deserves a chance at senior level .

It’s a shame he’s suchhhh a shoddy kick, so many good traits but his disposal… yeah needs work. I think that’s why we don’t want to try him down back it would be pretty scary coming out of defence.

He really is a Naughty-lite in the way he plays, needs to go to work on how he’s turned his disposal around. It’s doable

I like him, but don’t think he’s for us just can’t see how he gets past our plethora of options for a mid.

It beggars belief that clubs like West coast, Essendon etc don’t pick up these kids from the VFL like CCP who could genuinely play a role for them even if it’s only in the short term.

For anyone saying he plays loose - not true, look how close checking he is. Hes a defend first defender, with obviously the offensive flair on the otherside too.

He's not a loose player but he isn't an overly defensive player either. He's a ball hunting defender who backs his marking and intercepting skills.
Plenty of times he was 15mtrs wide of his opponent and tracking the ball more than his direct opponent and he's really good at it.
When it's a tighter defensive contest he can adjust. His natural instinct is to track the footy.

I think he is as good, perhaps a tad quicker without being quick (rather footy nous/quick of mind). He is short though. Like the HB idea but reckon he won’t be added to our senior list.

Enjoyable day at the WO watching the VFL boys go through their paces. It's also great to listen to the quarter time address.
Just some notes.
Khamis is almost a non factor when the ball is on the ground and he fell over repeatedly. If he marks it then he's a force so a bit of all or nothing with his game today.
Dolan and Jaques were very neat and tidy with their kicking. Good performances by both of them.
Sometimes you have to look past inflated stats and while Coffield got a lot of the footy he was very disappointing. Poor disposal, decision making and got caught all too frequently.
Harmes was really solid, a very good display and he should be first in line for a promotion.
L.Jones struggled and while he got the ball a bit frequently got caught out with his disposal.
Duryea was okay but he's not earning a promotion with that sort of performance.
Croft had one of his best games. Marks, kicks, tackles and goals and while he waste's the footy a bit it was one of his better games. Matthew Croft was there watching his son.
Gardner was a strong contributor and really puts his body on the line.
Davidson was okay but he might need a bit of luck to get a run next week.
Sellwood is an attacking defender and it was good to see him sneak in for a goal. There is a bit to like in his game.
Its a really early phase in Walker's development but he is competitive and has a crack. Long term investment.
L.Kennedy was a non factor. Couldn't get near the footy.
A.Jones looks okay at times but he doesn't grasp his chances like he should. This happened a few times today.
Smith showed some good signs today but he isn't holding the marks that he should for one of the bigger boys.
Hynes switched between a few roles but performed well. He's around the mark.
Scott, solid performance. Very competitive.

Had a quick chat to both Cal Ward and Brett Montgomery
I asked Brett if there were some signs that the players weren't switched on like they should have been and he said yes the coaching team was a bit concerned,
Games against the Swans drains the players for the following week. He talked about his two boys playing for GWS. One of them played today and the other did a severe hamstring injury a couple of weeks back.
Ward is moving back to Melbourne in October I think. I used to be a sponsor of his. I asked him which players to keep an eye on and nominated Gothard, Oliver, Leake and Madden.

One other player to watch with a Bulldog connection was McGhee-Galimberti who got a heap of the footy.
Tried to focus a bit of James Wehr who we have been linked to. He was a solid contributor.
