Hopefully Mjp can give us an insight into young Riley.

Got this explanation for this move:

The Suns still have a first and 2 seconds in 2020 plus a strong Academy class. Next year’s Draft is compromised with half the players tied to other clubs and the overall talent consider below this year. Plus, the Suns really wanted this kid in the first round.

            I didn’t understand that - didn’t we only have 3 picks/list spots?

              Re: 2019 Draft Watch

AFL website has been appalling with the draft selections blog. Amateur hour. Not even mentioning a number of draft picks or trades.

Must be cutting costs to fill out those fat wallets of the executives.

Surprised that Mitch O'Neil wasn't selected but he should be snapped up by a club today
The pre-season and rookie draft will be completed in quick time

Jack Martin will obviously become a blue

Can anyone explain why St Kilda and West Coast only made two selections? I thought teams must make a minimum three selections in the national draft?

I think you have to have three spots clear not draft three. They have a free spot to take, extra rookie, DFA or SPP (hope I got acronyms right).

Yep - can clubs can go into a season with one spot on their list short if they choose to take one extra rookie instead. A fair bit of flexibility for clubs these days

Looks zippy in his highlights. I wonder what role we see him playing when his rehab is finished?

I like the Garcia pick. Thought he was excellent for WA so much so that when he injured his knee I thought that it could cost them the title. It will be interesting to see what role we have in mind for him. He does bring the ball into the forward nicely which is an area we need to improve. So maybe midfield/half forward.

Rookie draft just took place, nothing too exciting happened, mostly players re-drafted by their clubs. In total there was only 14 new faces who entered the AFL system via the rookie draft. There was three recycled AFL players picked - Ben Keays, Mitch Hibberd, Ben Crocker.

Jack Martin to Carlton and Michael Hartley to Hawthorn in the pre-season draft, as expected.

North have signed Josh Walker as a delisted free agent.

Josh Honey is an interesting pick - Jets boy, elite tackler.
