    Re: 2019 Draft Watch

Everything is saying Weightman. It seems hard to see us taking anyone else. But I hope that we weren't expecting Robertson and Kemp to be on the board and have a last minute rethink.

I get the knee factor with Kemp, but Robertson looks like a genuine best in the comp sort of a character. If we are taking Weightman I hope to hell Robertson is already off the board.

      Re: 2019 Draft Watch

I had a quick look at Twomeys late mail last year.

      100% correct - picks 1-7
      Minor differences - picks 8-11
      Bigger differences - picks 12>

He could be getting better down the order, or passed 10 a lot changes with an even field. I’m happy with our recruiters either way.

Good thing about not really following the draft like this year is that I can't get needlessly upset about who we do/don't pick and just be hopeful with whatever we get knowing our recent drafting record is really solid.

On his live show yesterday he said he was very confident in his top 12. Thought the order may change but not the players involved.

Freo fan who gets good mail is convinced Freo pass on Dev, concerns over his kicking.

IIRC isn't that why Fyfe slid? Dunkley goes ok as well.

Twomey bases his draft on whispers not opinion and he normally gets good mail.

Consider so many recruiting staff are part timers or semi-professionals who get a token stipend to watch dozens of games per season and there are a lot of people willing to talk. A gym buddy's son scouts for the Swans and if you took the annual stipend at an hourly rate it would definity be below minimum wage.

                  Same boat here.

It's actually the first year I haven't researched the draft since the early 2000's.

Flicking through the little paper at work this morning - anyone reminded of a young Nathan Brown when looking at Cody Weightman?

I'm reasonably optimistic about Cody - but I'm in the draft for needs / hoping Pickett is still available camp.

Bevo consistently plays kids in their first year if they show something (see Dunkley, Naughton, Smith etc)

If Pickett is really our preferred option, I wonder if inviting him to the draft was a tactical error as it seemed to be a catalyst for far more media interest & hype than prior?

                        Maybe that was the idea?

OK, OK I will admit to getting a bit excited about the mystery aspect.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

                          Re: 2019 Draft Watch

The "other forum" is running with our pick 13 being targeted by clubs looking to move up in the draft order.

Now we did interview guys who are likely to be available 'later' in the first round (e.g. Bianco) in the past week and with Robertson / Kemp likely to slide it suddenly becomes a very attractive pick. Fox linked us with Worrell a month ago who also looks like he might slide outside of the top 20.

                          Sam Power, do your thing.

The 2019 draft is on our doorstep, and ESPN expert Chris Doerre has analysed all the possibilities to expand his phantom draft from the first pick to the very last.

Still holding out hope that Power is wheeling and dealing behind the scenes and bends another team over who are desperate for our pick 13.

I'm real not big on this, there's some very good kids at Pick 13, unless we get a really silly type overs. Something like:

                                13 & 53 - for - 15 & 20 (GCS)
                                13 & 53 - for - 17 & 24 (Geelong)

They'd have to really, really rate the kid at Pick 13 and we'd not really feel it.
