Moore has a social conscience so maybe he is moore bulldog than magpie.

Comrade mentioned that Jon Ralph was told by North that they will take Daicos & Darcy with Pick 1 (for draft integrity). Assuming North stay in 18th and do this, that’s another reason of common interest to see what we can do for each other for a genuine win/win outcome.

Re: Collingwood as a Trading Partner 2021

I said this in the OP:

KPD: Darcy Moore is their best option. He’s out for the year with a PCL, which almost feels like he’s on ice based when he did it. He gets them significant TPP relief, and obviously a First Rounder PLUS good player. But the counter argument to trading him if they would be interested, is that he’s a Free Agent next year and if they tread water, could get a premium Top 5 Pick if he left then.

But I wonder with the way they’ve been playing since Bucks announced he was going/sacked, whether they might revert to type and overestimate where they finish next year. If Moore was a Free Agent this year, the compo would be Pick 6. If they think they’re going to improve to around the 8 or just outside, then they’d have to think the compo next year is around Pick 10.

So the equation is if they’re open to look at letting Moore go as a Free Agent, it’s Pick 10 next year vs an offer this year of, say us, late first rounder plus a good player. Plus they move $800,000 of his 2022 salary to another club and fix their cap issues for good now.

It’s still in the highly unlikely category of things, but if they get to thinking they’re going to be a good amount better next year (which is what they do), then I do wonder if that materially changes the thinking about a 2021 Pre Agent such as Moore. They still need to get active to secure Daicos without a deficit, so where they might look to finish the TPP repair, while getting picks/points and brining in younger talent for the rebuild is anyone’s guess.

What is the contract status of Cameron and Lynch?

                Thanks.

Both Cameron and Lynch are OOC at the end of this year.

                Should we go after Lynch?

Honestly I'm not sure we could offer Lynch or Cameron more senior game time than they are currently getting which may be a tough sell to get one of them across the line.

Re: Collingwood as a Trading Partner 2021

I just heard a grab from radio today that Pendlebury could be interest in a Sam Mitchell like trade (to West Coast) where plays out how ever long he has left and moves into a development/assistant coaching role at retirement.

                    If it was us,

It could bring in a midfielder that allows Bont to play a lot more forward with Bruce out for next year
The flow on means finding other insurance forwards like Tom Lynch as a DFA is not absolutely necessary
Has big game experience and very experienced leader on field
It covers losing theoretical midfielders such as Lippa, Wallis
We could give us flexibility on trading another midfielder out, if that midfielder landed us a very good ruck KPD
He’s a Free Agent (no Trade cost to us)
He takes the last spot on our list
He’s not going to be on a lot of money (which we have)
He’s seemingly on good terms with Treloar and Varcoe
We bring into the coaching panel later a new voice, a breath of fresh air to the coaching panel

It could be an interesting thought exercise to game this out.

I think we will have a couple of options to pick from. The question I have is do we chase a forward or a midfielder and try and make Bont into a forward?

That’s what I’m currently thinking about. In terms of flexibility, if (like Pavlich) Bont goes forward for an extended period but we need him to ruck or go into the centre to turn momentum. Bevo can do that. Tom Lynch for his numerous attributes doesn’t. Bonts kicked 25 goals from the midfield this year, what could he do spending 80% forward. Could he kick 35+. Is that better than Lynch could do. Does Bont make defenders very honest and not leave Naughton double teamed.

That makes me feel like that might be a strong way of covering Bruce. The question is then, could Pendlebury added to Macrae, Libba, Treloar, Dunkley etc. win enough of the ball to not really hurt us. I think we still win enough of our own ball. And a secret, Pendles has a basketball background. But don’t tell anyone.

It’s an interesting debate. Go get an insurance forward, or grab a good free agent that releases Bont to kick goals next year.

                            I'd take Pendles.

                            We lack leadership for one.

We routinely get injuries to key players so what's another mid? In all seriousness, I'd probably look to play Bont forward with Bruce out.

Pendles to then shift into a coaching role would be great for us

I suspect for his own education, he is thinking getting out of the four walls he has known for a long time might be the way to go.

Was he a Buckley loyalist? That may also have something to do with it.
