Edge talked about or smaller injury list.

If there's a spot as part of the mid rotations against GWS, he comes in - and with this as an area of strength for GWS, there may well be a role. What I don't want to see is us potentially replace a high half forward (or another specialist non-mid position) with the next best performed mid at VFL level and try to retro fit that mid into an unsuitable role - that's how we got into our selection imbalance problems in 2022-2023.

It will all depend on match-ups with GWS.

This might sound a bit harsh and it's not the way it's intended but his impressive total disposal numbers don't quite tell the full story.
Sanders needs to get a better balance with his kicks to handball ratio to really hurt the opposition teams.

He had 30 handballs from his 42 touches

Sanders was interviewed on Channel 7 after the game and spoke about how his disposal numbers aren't really the be all and end all for him in the AFL. He knows he has to work on his defensive running and what he does when he doesn't have the ball. Really positive comments and understanding of what he needs to do. There's no rush in getting him into the side. He'll be there soon enough.

A few on X are questioning the Khamis move to the forward line. Their reasoning is he should be kept back because he has no chance to be a forward for us now.
I don't get the logic given he moved forward and contributed to the win. Some players need to be the more plug and patch options and I don't think it wrecks his chances of a recall as a defender.

I 100% agree with this, to me he's the perfect unicorn to fill a gap forward or back, play both? In fact i'm actually bringing him in over Lobb as the 3rd tall forward this week IF we were to drop or give Jamarra a rest (which i don't think we should).

He was moved forward and had an immediate impact like he did last season as a forward, he was really our match winner and having a winning culture in the two's only helps the morale overall and helps set in a winning culture for the club imo, no point just using Footscray as JUST a development side and nothing else.

I think it definitely affects his chances... In fact, it tells me that there is no chance he is coming back in to the AFL side any time soon.

We know he can kick goals, he did it all year last season. What we don't know is whether he can defend 1v1. That's what he should be working on.

Yeah. Do we want him to be an afl or vfl player?

I would argue we have an answer to that question.

He will train as a defender and that coupled with his form at Footscray that and injuries to others will be his gateway back.

Didn't Buku only sign on for another year? He'll probably go to Brisbane next because they will get more out of Buku than Hipwood.

You might be right... It just seems like mixed messaging to me.

He will end up like Caleb Daniel with no best position because the coaches can't decide where they want him.

I can also completely understand why Edge put him forward, and respect that it was the right coaching move for his team on that day - but was it the right move for Buku's AFL career?

It was an old problem when sides were integrated with VFL teams . The VFL coach plays for a premiership or plays best for the player to play AFL.
                              Damned if he did either.

Montgomerie has quit the club to return to the SANFL, wasn't getting a game and our defensive stocks are shockingly healthy.
