    I can also completely understand why Edge put him forward, and respect that it was the right coaching move for his team on that day - but was it the right move for Buku's AFL career?

      It was an old problem when sides were integrated with VFL teams . The VFL coach plays for a premiership or plays best for the player to play AFL.
      Damned if he did either.

        Montgomerie has quit the club to return to the SANFL, wasn't getting a game and our defensive stocks are shockingly healthy.

            I thought he did well in the preseason games and from memory we had to ruck him (back-up) in one of the games.
            A somewhat healthy list when compared to our struggles last year has meant opportunities have dried up for him.
