    Mid Season Draft 2024

    May 29th.

At least one pick with AOD retiring. Perhaps a second with Baz if we want two.

Personally I?d take two kids and back our recruiters in while we are clearly rebuilding.

I've heard us link to Spicer and Bianco on a couple of news outlets just spit balling comments and nothing concrete but I wouldn't want to go down that path. Grab some kids I think we've had enough of players that had their go at AFL and didn't cut it.
Happen to try a state leaguer if they could be the next Morris but it has to be youth.

Yep. We need to find as many good kids as we can. As I’ve previously pointed out, we passed on Gags in the MSD then paid a good third rounder at the ND. And he was worth it, and would’ve been a bargain in the MSD. Let the recruiters earn their money and bring in a couple more kids with free hit MSD picks. If we want state leaguers and retreads we have Scott, Baker, Bramble, Poulter, Gardner etc.

Bianco is a good player at the VFL level but I don't think he is a senior level option. Spicer hasn't proven much from my perspective.
I hope we look at a couple of 19 or 20yo if it comes to the point where we make a selection of two.

Our list seems to lack mid age players . I think if we pick up them we are looking at the now , If we go 20 yo we are looking at the future. I am fine with either as our under 24s are a hugely talented lot.

Anyone know much on Will Maclachlin?

              Sounds ok.

O'Leary from Sandi might come into consideration if we have two picks. Young wingman and our wings aren't exactly bedded down. Can hit the scoreboard.

Sandi just signed a VAFA rebuilding defender who I assume is on the Saints radar.

If Naughton is out for the year. If it’s a PCL, I wouldn’t rush him back for a game or two dead rubbers. Then we could look at 3 picks in the MSD. If we can raid 19-20 year old kids we rate now, it might be a blessing in disguise to help bring in more talented kids and address needs at the same time.

With Lobb the most likely candidate to take Naughtons spot does it strengthen the need to acquire a ruckman to back up Footscray?

As in the VFL side recruit one?

No, if we add a ruckman to the senior list as a rookie then at least we will have a bit more depth to support Smith.

Sounds like a VFL list management issue. Tim, Lobb & Darcy should get us through the last half of the year.

It's not where I'm going. Doubts on the future English and perhaps even Lobb and knowing that Lobb will spend time in the senior side we could add a ruckman and see if they are good enough to offer us something beyond this season.

If Tim or Lobb is out the door for certain, then sure, a ruckman enters the frame. More so if we go conservative with Naughty and take in three picks.
