    Re: Mid Season Draft 2024

I would like to see us recruit a small hard defender who has some pace and can kick. We have enough interceptors and running flankers. It would be nice to have a true defender of players not space.
not sure that is, that’s why we have a recruiting team.
Another small hard forward who is goal hungry would be second choice.

The problem is mate, they don't exist in junior ranks...so you're scouring the state leagues.

And, well - where are their small-forwards of the quality of a Pickett, Rankine, Cameron in those competitions???

There's a fair bit of projection being done - all of which is why we are so bloody lucky to have Duryea.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I've had a fair bit to do with Luke- ripping kid. Would love to see him get picked up.

I haven't seen him play this year, but my previous feelings were that he was a well-rounded player with a big tank and a lot of heart, but without the real weapons to make him stand out. Seeing that he is averaging 23 touches at 94% is pretty encouraging.

Has anyone seen Jack Callinan play?

Son of Ian, found a few pretty glowing write-ups from pre-draft (class of '23). 179cm, small forward who played a large chunk down back, but still averaged a few goals.

Jack Callinan, the son of former-Crow Ian is a chip off the old block, boasting great smarts and goal sense as a small forward.

A decent writeup on the order and some theorising on who might be taken at each pick, here:

The mid-season draft has become a regular fixture in the footy calendar, and its next instalment arrives on Wednesday. ESPN draft expert Jasper Chellappah takes a look at who each club might take.

            Also:
The 24 players to have undertaken AFL medicals in the past week:

            Ajang Kuol Mun (Geelong VFL)
            Ben Hopkins (Dandenong Stingrays)
            Brynn Teakle (East Fremantle)
            Caleb Ernst (Coburg)
            Corey Ellison (Williamstown)
            Dayten Uerata (Bendigo Pioneers)
            Geordie Payne (Tasmania)
            Iliro Smit (Eastern Ranges)
            Jack Hutchinson (Collingwood VFL)

            Jasper Scaife (West Perth)
            Joe Pike (Geelong Falcons)
            Kelsey Rypstra (North Adelaide)

            Matthew Ling (Norwood)
            Max Hall (Box Hill)

            Tobyn Murray (Geelong VFL)
            Will McLachlan (Geelong Falcons)
            Will Patton (West Adelaide)

Obviously there will be a lot of players on club radars that are playing in their 2's (like Bianco) that subsequently wont' feature on this list.

Kuol Mun could be interesting, 206cm ruck-key defender who is 22. If a team was interested in a developing key defender then he'd be worth a crack.

Far out that would be hilarious and awesome.

Billy Gowers would be funnier still.

I loved both those guys at VFL and think if injuries didn't hit Roarke that hard he would have held a role with us. Gowers limit is VFL but a fun player to watch at that level. We might get a VFL flag bringing him in.

Injuries for McKenzie and a lack of form and a strong list got in the way of Mathieson.
