Great news about Roughead's return. Sounds a very promising tap ruckman.

Young Boumann seems to have hit his straps, hopefully he can push on and cement a place in the Willi 1's.

    How was Grant today?

I thought he was quiet to the point of being disinterested to be honest. Today he would roam up field looking for kicks but if he wasn't used he wouldn't work back hard enough into the 50 to present again. Numerous times the ball was in the Willy forward 50 and Grant was standing in the centre of the ground. It could be that Brad Gotch is directing him to work higher up the ground but it looked strange. Matt Little played the way Grant should be - leading hard and marking at full pace and converting.

His only goal came from a free kick - otherwise he barely had a sniff at the goals.

I'll be interested to see what others think.

Re: Williamstown vs Sandringham Burbank Oval

        My votes:

        3. Ward
        2. Skipper
        1. Reid.

Ward took the hits, gave some as well and kicked a couple of great goals (one from the boundary line I think).

Brendan Stack looked good - has an AFL "body" just needs to work on his fitness and decision making. Had a defensive lapse in the final quarter that allowed Ralph Clarke a goal.

Tim Callan did not do anything spectacular.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...Ayce Cordy is going to be a GUN!

I reckon with the way Skipper was marking the ball, he'd definitely be an asset in the forward line...just the only thing probably holding him back is whether the match committee believes he will chase and harass the opposition backline.

Welsh again did not play....what the hell is going on....should he just retire?

Met up with Gary again.....and he has a new love child and his name is Roughead

Disappointing to hear about Grant, and lack of talk about him.

Great chase by Skip. Clarke had 2 bounces heading goal wards when he got taken down from behind, had no idea it was coming.

We've got to keep in mind that he's only 20 and he comes across as precocious - I think he'll frustrate and delight in equal measures until he matures and develops.

I'd like it if we actively tried to kick to him early in games and get his confidence up. When I've seen him play really well he has been involved from the outset - at the moment the Willy players are looking for guys like Little and Rose in the forward line because they're more consistent and work harder.

How was Sam Reids disposal today? And a question for the Willi watcher's, is Reids disposal problem's mechanical or option choosing?

A brief summary of the Bulldog listed players that played in the seniors.

Wayde Skipper - rucked again for nearly the entire game and was still going strongly in the last quarter. Good marking, kicking and his rundown of Clarke were all highlights.

Callan Ward - returned to form with an impressive midfield display. He got a lot of the ball and typically used it well. Maguire tried to rough him up in the 2nd quarter but it didn't distract him at all.

Brennan Stack - started off on the bench and slowly worked his way into the game. He played bother forward and back but in my opinion despite some good dashes and a nice athletic mark he just wasn't quite fit enough to really push himself. He was matched up on Raph Clarke in the last quarter and whilst Clarke kicked a couple of goals, Stack did OK on him.

Jarrad Grant - played forward and was one of the better players. He held some nice marks and ran hard but at times was erratic with his efforts. He attacks the opposition players with his tackles almost too vigorously which might start to catch the umpires eye.

Sam Reid - I thought he just shaded Ward as the most effective player for the Seagulls. Once again he was strong in the contests and he generally used the ball well.
Must be pushing for higher duties.

Easton Wood - started off as a HBF and did some nice things and provided a few dashes but was a bit on the quiet side.

Guy O'Keefe - a very quiet game by his high standards this year. Was moved out to the HFF to provide Ward with more time in the middle and was nowhere near as prominent as previous weeks.

Tim Callan - solid effort but somewhat tainted by a few errors.

Cameron Wight - another quiet one by Wight but he didn't do too much wrong.

Ayce Cordy - obviously when looking at Cordy it's very exciting to see him display some on his natural football skills. He doesn't get a lot of it but typically his games have a few gems and today was no exception. A few scoop ups off the ground and positioning himself well for marking contests underlined his potential.

Pristine conditions didn't test it at all but I saw no real errors with it.

I'm not sure if it's a technical issue but I'd probably lean towards the fact that he hasn't come from a traditional footy background. It will get better but might never be a real strength.

What are you on about? Do you want or expect a complete bio written about him after every game?
For what its worth I thought he did very well except that his fitness might let him down a bit. The forward coach had a subtle talk to him at 3 quarter time about him running too far up the field.

Cam Wight - Just filling up a spot in the seniors.

Drop him to the Magoos, and get some seniors time into Boumann or anyone else.

His inability to standout from a bunch of kids at 200cm and speed to boot with 6 years or so of the club building him up is annoying. Lets face the facts, he is only taking up space and Boumann has showed his is at least worth a shot. I say drop Wight and give the Bou a month to settle in and re-assess?

Still did some silly things, but did some quite brilliant things as well. I was talking to a former Bulldogs employee who now works with the Saints and he thinks Stack is the type of player who would perform better at the higher level. Thinks he would fit in well in a quicker game where he could play on instinct... Interesting comments.
You must not have seen him much because he has played better than that. He did some exciting things but he was inconsistent and wayward with his defensive efforts.

Went down for the first half..

Was happy to see Cordy in action, took a nice mark 35* out and kicked a nice goal in the first qtr i believe...i am assuming he got it..bit distracted by the loud rude supporter to my left..

And Skips big chase down was brilliant...unfortunate for X-Clarke that it's destroyed his knee...maybe we could use big Skip for something along these lines in the 1s? j/k

Nice day today..but geez, even when the weather seems perfect the wind is still bloody cold

Whilst this might happen I'm not a real fan of the whole sending a player to Coventry concept.
He's form has been adequate enough and he won't necessarily improve by being dropped to the 2nds.

Boumann deserves to be promoted but it doesn't necessarily have to be at the expense of Wight. Based on today's performance I'd be inclined to play Boumann as a forward and wight has been playing as a defender.

Grant, Cordy, Roughead (also in the ruck) and Boumann would make for a great forward line. Now if Welsh is back next week then Wight could be shunted out and Boumann used as a defender.
