    Re: Williamstown vs North Ballarat

    Good review Mofra.

Stack was off for a chunk of time in the second half. When he has a quiet start he sometimes magically seems to cop a knock and is forced to have an extended spell - not saying he tries it on but I do think he needs to toughen up and work through pain at times.

Grant's second half was much better. I hate seeing him pseudo-lead by just pointing to the space where he wants the ball kicked, but he did present hard in the third and fourth quarters. He still doesn't get to enough marking contests but increased fitness will help.

It was an interesting move putting Callan in the middle but he certainly stood up and was great in close. I was particularly impressed with the speed of his hands and really worked hard to get the ball out to the outside mids. Showed that he isn't just a one trick pony which is what playing at VFL is all about IMO.

Everitt was solid, playing mainly in defence. I've said previously that I'd like him to play a sweeper/utility role and he almost did today, working his way up to the wing and also forward at times. That contest where he backed into it and got absolutely crunched, only to get straight up and make a second effort highlights that his game really is coming along. His rebounding was a feature and in my opinion he was definitely one of our better players today.

Wight - hmmm. Some of his kicks were woeful, really bad. But some of his spoiling was great and his marking up forward was impressive. I know it's unfair but I'm just a bit blase about him now - though it is good to have a guy of his height as depth.

Cordy did some nice things and presented well. He's like a 204cm version of Bobby, which is quite a sight.

O'Keefe was solid, spending most of his time in the middle/wing. Reid was good also, and kicked a nice long goal. Both are pressing and are ready to go if we cop an injury at the Dogs.

Addison was average and looks short of confidence. As Mofra said, he fell over at crucial moments and it really cost the team. I know he is one of Rocket's favourites but he didn't earn a recall on that performance.

My boy Boumann was good again, moving like a gazelle and using the ball well. He was rarely beaten in the air, (maybe once or twice on the lead) and acted as a link up man from defence. Made good decisions and won't be playing in the magoos for a while I'd imagine.

Skipper was down on his early season form but he kicked a few goals and was handy.

This was the first Willy game that I've got fired up at this year as there were a huge amount of bad decisions and disposals from the Seagulls - very frustrating but hopefully this loss will ground them and make them hungrier.

      Re: Williamstown vs North Ballarat

I went too today, felt sorry for the lads to go down but they probably deserved to.

Everitt - I was really impressed with his run out of defence today. There was more that one occasion where he would provide real gut run off the half back flank, often setting up forward 50 entries.

Callan - Was competing with O'Keefe for best on for mine, and probably beat him. Disposal seems to have improved, and just kept running. Don't know about being in the midfield at AFL level however, would prefer to see him as a backman.

O'Keefe - Just looked too good to be out there. A debut looms large.

Grant - Did some good things, but was generally a little bit too quiet over the course. Gave me a scare when he almost did a Russell Robertson and miss from the one metre mark, and still drops his head too much, but his second efforts are improving, he has sticky, sticky hands and a good footy brain. Not far away.

Reid - He gets bigger every time I see him. He didn't have the best day at the office, however.

Wood - Did some nice things today, has good hands for a player his size, and his disposal continues to improve. About as far off as Grant at this stage, not too far but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Cordy - Was OK. Tried to be a little bit too clever with the handball at times, but he really impressed me with his agility and his ruckwork. Got pushed around a bit by the bigger bodies, but that is to be expected.

Stack - Wasn't woeful, but not far from it. Simply didn't do anything.

Wight - Really liked his game today. Started back and wasn't too bad, then went forward, which is where he impressed me. His hands were un-Wight like, and he kicked a really nice goal in the fourth. Could be an option in a pinch, but unfortunately looks to be stuck at Willy for now. Needs to string some of this good form together.

Boumann - He too impressed me, both with his run and disposal, as well as with his contesting ability and his marking. Should be cemented in the seniors by now.

Skipper - Was solid all day. Kicked a couple of nice goals roving his own ruckwork. Was relieved of some of the ruck duties by Meyer and Cordy at times, which seemed to help him no end. Hudson and Minson wouldn't want to slip up.

Addison - Didn't actually dissapoint me too much like some of the other posters, thought he was okay. Disposal was a bit suspect at times, but he wasn't alone.

        I forgot Wood.

I think he's injured as he didn't come back on after half time. He showed his genuine pace by winning a 50/50 ball in the middle and burnt off his opponent easily before hitting a target in the forward 50.

I really like the way he plays, never taking a backward step and his disposal and decision making improves with every game it seems.

Hopefully his injury isn't a serious one as it'd be a shame if his development was halted.

          Really?

I'm suuuuuuure I saw him after half time.

If this is true, that's really dissapointing for him.

Maybe he played part of the third quarter, but he had the tracksuit jacket on by the end of it and all through the fourth.

Shoulder injury but he did come back on without the strapping.

                  Re: Williamstown vs North Ballarat

Skipper - once again he was solid in the ruck and is pretty much the most important player in the side because he would be the hardest one to cover. Not as good today as previous weeks.

Stack - far better in defence than up forward and whilst he was quiet, there was some encouraging dashes.

Addison - played mainly as a defender but was extremely clumsy on his feet which cost us at least one goal. His skill level on a near perfect day was disappointing.

Grant - started off slowly and nearly stuffed up and easy goal in the first term. He was far better in the 2nd half and presented well. Some skill errors took some of the shine of his performance.

Reid - solid player today but not clean with his skills especially his handballing. Too often he handballed short which meant his team mate had to break stride to get the ball. Kicked a couple of goals.

Wood - quiet day because he was off the ground for an extended period with an injury. Decision making a bit suspect but a couple of courageous marks. His injury occurred because he took too long to get the ball to a team mate. I think he will be lucky to hold his spot next week.

O'Keefe - good game but not a great one. His handballs were great and except for a couple of scrubbed kicks in a minute his disposal was predominately clean and to the advantage of his team mates. Ran out the quarters so his stamina seems good.
                  Kicked a brilliant crumbing goal.

Boumann - played everywhere but was better in defence. He got caught a couple of times trying to take his opponents on but rallied in the 2nd half and displayed some of the form from last week. Well worth persevering with but I'd like him to be settled down as a defender for a couple of more weeks.

Callan - another one who played everywhere. I didn't think he was that good but he was one of the better players (it was one of those days). He seemed to be lost in the centre square contests.

Wight - OK in the back line before they moved him forward. Kicked a tough long goal in the last quarter and then missed an easier one a few minutes later.

Cordy - if you judge him over the 4 quarters he would be regarded as poor but there is always some minor highlights that underlines his quality. He was down today but did some nice things.

Everitt - Frustrating in the first half but clearly one of the better players in the 2nd half. Some terrific passages of run and carry supported but laces out passing was a real highlight.
