We don't wait long before jumping off out talls do we?
Grant, Everitt and now even Cordy are being questioned when they have so much development left in them.
I'm not writing Cordy off but I've never thought he was a certainty to make it. I've played against him a few times and whilst he's always had talent, I don't think he ever really 'dominated' a game.
Plus - there's got to be real concerns about his body developing into a size capable of playing at AFL level.
The potential is there but Grant looks much more likely from my point of view.
Cordy is at least 3 years off being a regular AFL player. He is a very skinny young man who will need time to fill out and then get used to playing footy with a bigger body.
He might come good a year earlier with a good run with injuries but at this stage injuries have not been treating him kindly.
On the up side he is very agile and is intellegent so this may make in a good learner to understand the smarts of footy.
Dont be in a rush with him.
IMO Roughead will play about 6-10 games next year as he has a more mature body.
I watched the Williamstown game after attending the WB vs Freo game.
Skipper looked like he was leading the troops out there, very influential in the ruck (against Hale) and dangerous when he pushed forward.
Wood was hard at it and I like his run & carry, skills normally are questionable. I can't recall him shanking a kick which was pleasing.
Roughead won a number of hitouts however did not do much else. The conditions would not have suited him.
White battled hard however his lack of body strength was evident in one on one contests agaisnt his opponent.
Boumann was very disciplined and would often punch the ball away from his opponent. Although his kicking was ordinary, I liked the fact he would dish off a handball and continue running, expecting to receive it back. If he continues to perform at Williamstown, I can see him getting a game at the Dogs at some stage in 2010.
Daniels did not do much, does go hard at the ball.
Grant got a fair bit of it early in the game. Missed a couple of shots at goal in the first 10 minutes (one a snap, the other from the boundary line). Comrade, you are spot on with your assessment in that he is best suited to full forward. He will never be a crash and bash forward, but is quick, has sticky hands and his skills below his knees are very good.
He will better with a big strong forward to do most of the bullocking work, this is when Grant will be able to display his natural flair.
Big call by SS this early to see he wont make it. I will say this, if he makes will be a 'go to' full forward who demands the footy and will kick goals. I think it is that black and white with Granty, if he makes will be a very good player or will be lost to the game due to his lack of desire to make it. Destiny is in his own hands.
I thought O'Keefe was one of the main reasons Williamstown came back in the second half. His run and long accurate kicking to the forwards was a feature. He has to learn to get the footy more inside than just as an outside player. When things are not going your way, don't rely on your teammates to feed you the footy.
On Patrick Rose, he is certainly handy as a forward, can take a strong mark. I don't know how his pace is, or how big his motor is, does not seem as quick as a Betts or Milne which counts against him for mine, perhaps Comrade can answer that question.

A couple of questions for the regular Williamstown watchers. If Grant is best suited to the Fevola style deep full forward role, should we be worried about his poor kicking technique for goal? One of Fevola's great strengths from day one is that he can kick it like a mule, and as a general rule kicking techniques can be very difficult to change and improve in adulthood. Also, are the Williamstown and Bulldogs coaches trying to improve Grant's overall education by playing him in unfamiliar roles (such as lead up CHF) in an attempt to not make him so one-dimensional? One of Fevola's great weaknesses is that he is so one-dimensional, and when he's "not on", he becomes a total liability to the Blues.

In my opinion, his goal kicking is actually ok. He’s not a dead eye dick and probably never will be, but he can easily kick from 50 and under pressure as shown by his clincher versus Coburg. His technique probably can be tweaked but I honestly don’t think it’s a major concern.
His field kicking and disposal on the run worries me a lot more, which is another reason to keep him closer to the goals.

I think it’s partly due to an education process, and partly due to the fact that Willy don’t have any other lead up options, so it’s him or nothing. This being the case we should probably show some patience rather than writing him off.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

He seemed to fumble the ball alot, is he normally a one grab player?
Thanks Comrade. His kicking sounds like it is more reliable from distance and he tends to stab at the ball when he's inside 30 - I've only seen him against Carlton in Round 5 and Essendon in the NAB Cup to base that view on, but his kicking action looked anything but fluent in these games from set shots.
It will be a very important pre-season coming up for Grant. Hopefully he can build both his frame and his aerobic capacity to the level required for AFL football that will make the most of his natural attributes.
It's not like Fev's that reliable. When he's on he's a great kick but it's not always the case.
Aside from this season (and he's had a heel injury that has hindered his kicking action for a large part of it), Fev's goal kicking has been terrific for the majority of his career.

Thanks for the summary, I recorded the game but haven't watched it. Do you think GOK did enough to get a spot this week against WC?

In my opinion he helped turn the game Williamstowns way in the 3rd term such was his quality disposal.
I think he did enough however I can only see him getting a game in place of another outside onballer like Eagleton. We both know they wont drop Eagleton though.

If GOK did miss a rehab session I hope he doesn't get a game.
