Re: Top 20 Whitten Oval Memories
Have never experienced a match at the Whitten Oval as I started supporting the Doggies post-WO days but talking to some Bulldogs friends at the footy this year they say that the atmosphere was electric especially in the EJ Whitten Stand. Hopefully some time in the future I will experience a match there especially since the VFL team will be playing there now."Footscray people are incredible people; so humble. One of the lucky ones to see us play in a GF, albeit a losing one. It's better to die on our feet than live on our knees.Comment

Re: Top 20 Whitten Oval Memories
Throwing stuff out, found a 1996 team signed poster. Guess whose happy?
I remember It took me all the home games and a few functions to get all the signatures I did, although I think Johno signed it twice as Smithy gave it him in the dug out after I already got his.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: Top 20 Whitten Oval Memories
Yeah, I completely forgot I had it. I found some other stuff too. I was just as happy bringing back all the memories of getting them as a kid running around the WO, leaning around the dug outs during the ressies etc. And getting so much time and support from the 'quality young men' who were just happy to be recognised, kids like West, Smith, Johnson. Awesome memories, can't do that at the footy any more!Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: Top 20 Whitten Oval Memories
Just found the footy record and a heap of photos from round 17, 1994 - When Doug surpassed EJ.
My god I didn't think the WO could hold that sort of crowd, looks like 50,000. And photos of me running onto the ground at the end with the 50,000.
I like memory lane!Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: Top 20 Whitten Oval Memories
The Coodabeens were brilliant in the 80's and 90's with Tony and Simon Whelan .
Dropped off the last decade, but still good for a decent chuckle.
Tony's a very funny manComment

Re: Top 20 Whitten Oval Memories
Tony use to work with a friend of mine in the public service back in the early 80's and would come along with us to games. At the time I didn't realise he was the Tony from the Coodabeens. He was always very nervous watching us play.FFC: Established 1883
