Yes. We desperately need a 1st ruck for next season.

          Thought Panos was taller

This site has him listed at 193

I wouldnt worry about a few cms either way - if he can develop more strength in the hips and legs its not going to make much difference

He's not especially tall, but that's not overly important given the way he plays. He's a lead up forward, not a pack mark. He could compliment Jones' skillset quite nicely next year.

His marking is certainly AFL quality, his hands on the lead are as good as I've seen.

A good suggestion to have an experienced senior coach in Ayres alongside McCartney in the box. Ayres record this year has been outstanding. You would have thought that it was Port that had 15 listed League players on the field. Their attack on the ball and teamwork was worthy of an AFL Club.
A bigger concern from yesterday's match, was the urgent need of a quality ruckman in 2012. Previous doubts on Minson clearly surfaced, when his performance was to say the least pathetic. Roughead is still a work in progress and lacks the physical strength to mix it with some of the League's heavyweights.
Wallis will be a player in time but is still adjusting to senior football.Of the others Howard and DJ did well in a losing team. Barlow battled hard and wasn't disgraced whilst Addison was best of an ordinary defence.Tutt had a quiet game, but has showed enough to suggest he will become a regular senior player.

Did you count the number of ex AFL players, all around 25, 26 years old that played for Port against our 15 mainly kids?

Mainly kids? That's not really true is it?

Minson, Barlow, DJ, Addison, Hahn, Stack, Hill and Reid are not kids. And Mulligan and Roughead have been in the system for a few years.

Which leaves 5/15 "kids": Tutt, Howard, Wallis, Hooper and Panos.

By consensus reports, one kid (Panos) did really well and one did OK (Howard). The first draft pick (Wallis) appears to have issues with pace.

Of the other 10 non "kids", consensus reports indicate DJ went OK and the rest were ordinary to utter crap.

I don't think your post holds up. Our list is in real trouble.

Plenty of ruckmen who've come on late in their careers. Minson could thrive with the number one role not to mention a new coach. I think confidence could be the key with Minson because he's shown glimpses of his talent throughout his career and he doesn't seem to lack dedication.

Worst he can do is help protect Cordy and Roughead from becoming Josh Fraser.
