Looks like Metro picked a fair few second string players expecting to win, sucked in.

        Really?

I would have thought they were trying to give a few more kids the opportunity to experience footy at the championships...if they have guys like Daniher ear-marked for the Adelaide trip, why do they also need to go to Darwin as well? The reality is that the champs are about developing players - winning is supposed to be a bonus. I think what they did is great...that the win didn't come is kind of irrelevent.

I am sure Vic Metro are disappointed with the outcome, but it should have happened to WA up there last year. If it wasn't for Coniglio and O'Meara in the last q, NT win. It is tough up in Darwin and if they stayed out near the airport there is quite literally NOTHING for the players to do except hang around and wait for the game...it is the toughest trip on the schedule...Good news for those who care about the title? Divvy 2 games dont count so WA/VC/VM/SA are all still 0-0-0.

In other news, SA lost to the SA u/20s and WA lost to the WA u23's...so all teams have some work to do!
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

MJP, any other WA names we should look out for in the champs?

I realise that, it's just some harmless banter.

You had to know I would bite. You are damned if you do, damned if you don't. If you play a full-strength side then you aren't giving players enough opportunity - if you put in some lesser lights and lose then you are taking things lightly.

I feel sorry for the VM guys because of this. Then again, last year when we played in NT we had to saddle up again 6 days later...they get two weeks break.

Shaw, Garlett, Warrell, Simpson, Ramsay, Marsh, Howson, McIntosh and Carter. Lowrie maybe.

I can't really say too much on here about players as I am sure you understand.

My remark was actually meant for someone I know that's part of Vic Metro.

I understand it is a tough situation to be in, a few years back Vic Country lost against NSW and the coach put it pretty much how you put it.

Wonder if WA are embellishing stories on Garlett.
They made Darling sound like he was in WA's version of the Carlton Crew

Darling? If getting caught with a girl in your tent on y12 camp and having a verbal joust with a couple of bouncers at the Subi hotel is the behaviour of the Carlton crew, then yep...he was definitely a bad boy.

Dayle has a few problems that are a little less run of the mill.

WA lost by 2 points against QLD.
Vic Country won by 9 points against NSW/ACT

Vic Country game was very wet and hard to watch.

Couple of the underagers really impressed me.
Matt Crouch was a standout (brother of Brad). Underage, eligible for the mini draft.
Hogan key forward, moves really well and is quite big already. Strong mark and presents well. Eligible for the mini draft and would have to be highly sort after.

Garlett was quite impressive. I'd be surprised if he doesn't go top 10. Very clean.

Does the mini draft rule that a player picked up has to wait another 12 months to play?
