They sure do. Maryborough had the Port Adelaide top but now it's a very different look. Castlemaine had the traditional Collingwood top.

Maryborough Castlemaine District Football League also have two Magpies, Campbells Creek and Maryborough Rovers. Very different jumpers though.

      You are right there.

Should be a great crowd at the QEO in Bendigo. It's such a great place for footy. Great surface and historic grand stand. It really reminds me of the old suburban grounds like the Junction Oval.

The new recent changes to the Calder mean we get there in an hour. Easier to get to than the MCG from here.

Great town in my opinion. I lived in Campbells Creek, Faraday (does anyone remember the Faraday school kidnapping?) and right in Castlemaine before moving to Bendigo.

I played in the reserves grand final just prior to this game. We went down by 14 points unfortunately, I just made it back to work today.

Both our game and the seniors were effected by send-offs. I didn't see the incident in the senior game where the Garfield coach was sent of but was told he was very unlucky. In our game we were 2 goals up when then umpire decided to send one of our players off for responding to a taunt from an opposition player. Surely an umpire should have the common sense not to potentially change the outcome of a grand final over simple name calling between opposing players.

Yes I do. Recently I read a paperback on it as well. The teacher was very brave. Now there's a cue for all the teachers on here.

I lived in a farm where the school was in the the corner of that property. I also went to high school with some of the the girls that were kidnapped.
The school was of course closed and turned into one to those retreats for students of schools in the city to visit on weekends. All single teacher schools were closed straight after the kidnapping.

The girls showed no signs of problems from what I remember and I think the teacher did a great job in convincing them that they were just on an adventure.

I think Rachael Brown played the role of the teacher in a TV movie.

I have just witnessed the EFL Grand Final where Balwyn 12.19 defeated Vermont 10.5 in an upset. Balwyn joined the competition in 2007 and won it's second flag. Vermont over 51 years has won 19 flags to be the dominant club in the EFL.

As local as you get over here ...

WAFL Grand Final tomorrow ... East Fremantle Sharks playing in the Colts, Reserves, and Seniors. Go Sharks !!

Would love to see 'Old East' win all three ... Realistically will probably only win the ressies.

Beaten at all three levels ...

By 10 goals in the colts (beaten by South Freo), 5 goals in the ressies (by Claremont), and by 4 goals in the seniors (again by Claremont).

It made for a very quiet train ride home.

Never saw the movie but will see if it is on dvd. It happened in 1972 and 5 years later, Eastwood the guy behind the kidnapping, broke out of prison and did exactly the same thing again at another school.
