Actually cried this morning when I saw the news.

The Footscray Football Club has been going to battle every week, glad we have put our real name back in the public sphere again. Thats probably done enough to settle my issues with the way previous administration have treated our identity and historical narrative.

Ben Graham and all at the Whitten Oval have done a truly great job so far with the VFL side. I'm really pleased that the supporters who strongly identify with the Footscray name and connection are being respected in this way.

Would be pretty cool if we could 'rig' the AFL and VFL draw to get our first VFL home game at WO on a Saturday avo and then Ethihad game that night for our opening game. Club puts on membership drive, entertainment, get some champions out too, and then buses to Ethihad (for a fee). I'd be in, in a heart beat. Great way to kick the year off and celebrate everything.

I'll raise the buses idea.

Try and get the 1pm start for the VFL game, for a 4PM finish, then have a 'March' to Etihad.

We'd have about 3 hours between siren and siren.

I am really pleased about the Footscray name being back. This is a great move by the club. I'm pumped. I can't wait to attend games there next year.
I know one someone who stopped following the bulldogs when they changed the name to the western bulldogs. She was a die hard Footscray supporter who wouldn't miss a game, and is married to a club champion. I know she will be over the moon about this and hopefully brings her back to the bulldog family. She is currently a crows supporter so the timing is good to.

It's a great idea, one that should be brought up to some club officials. It truly captures the membership theme they aimed for this year.

Awesome idea. The club had buses running from Whitten Oval to Princes Park in 1997 up until the move to Docklands.

From memory, the WO - PP buses were put on due to poor transport links to Princess Park. With a multi-million dollar upgraded train station (literally a Polly Farmer handpass from WO) which is 5 stops to Spencer St Station, I think the "march of the dogs" would occur pretty naturally on the train.

I'm looking forward to this more than anything I can remember. I'm sure we'll make a go of it. Our situation with our proximity to West Footscray Station and its proximity to Etihad just about makes us the envy of any club. Anyone who gets a train to ES from the west would funnel through WF Station. This makes an early FFC start prior to a later afternoon WB start at Etihad quite feasible. Not to mention the additional rail traffic once the Tarneit line is built. It's a really, really, really good model! All west suburban rail leads to WO. If we build it, they will come!

I love how everyone is talking transport options already. We're going to have to wait till next years season, but I really want that jumper already. With the VFL symbol, it's like things never changed.

Does anyone know what the other symbol below the VFL logo is???
