Is Carlton's trades really that good ?
There must be a doubt on Thomas after two years of injury. The offer to Daisy of seven hundred dollars per years for 4 years would appear way over the odds. Everett has now struggled at two clubs. Is he going to be any better at a third?
Betts has been a good servant at the Blues in a forward line that struggles.
Dockerty is a good pick up and a further indication of Victorian born young talent wanting to return home.

The only thing with Everit is he is maturing and we know talls take so much longer to get there.

I still think Everitt will have a long AFL prodiuctive AFL ccareer. Maybe at Carlton. He just needs to find a spot. Still think that the wing would be his best spot.

The only thing with Everit is he is maturing and we know talls take so much longer to get there.

Problem is although he is tall he doesn't play on key backs.
He doesn't have the physicality and is better suited playing a running defender or on a small forward

I personally think Everitt is lacking in football nouse. Makes bad decisions and is not physical enough.

Wingmen need to be accountable in modern football and Everitt is not. Good wingmen are creative and kick goals ala. Gaff.

Talls taking longer is a positional issue rather than being 6'4-6'5. You don't take longer simply because you are 3 inches taller than a midfielder you take longer because you need to master a difficult / demanding position.

Everitt has never played as a KPP.

Remember him in Darwin, slippery as hell, Gia in the Square begging for the ball, and he goes for the banana. I wanted him out in that moment.

Yep, agreed that's why he's at his third club and for mine will be delisted in 2 years. Has all the attributes just lacks the talent.

I would have used pick 32 in the draft.

Bringing Everitt to the club after not playing Laidler all year is also an interesting decision. What's going on with Laidler anyway, PSD? He went really well in 2011.

As for Everitt maybe Mick can extract something...

There's far more to talls taker longer than that, stuff like finding the correct playing weight that optimises their strength without trading off too much athleticism and coordination.
Less important anyway if they aren't key position though.

If anyone was going to make Everitt a player, it was Sydney. They didn't really want so that tells you a lot.
I reckon Malthouse has recruited him based on the non contact game last round of 2009.

Agreed, but this applies to elite sports people generally and it goes hand in hand with being an elite athlete. Tennis players, basketball players, soccer and AFL footballers, bowlers in cricket, runners etc.

I don't really 'rate' Everitt, but he isn't the worst player in the league and he's certainly better than Veszpremi.

Carlton get rid of Jordon Russell and Mark Austin but bring in Everitt.

Why?

As a defender I'd much prefer Austin over Everitt, whilst Mark isn't blessed with the most natural talent his defensive work is pretty good.
