    Footscray Membership

I was just thinking, with the Whitten Oval to my understanding not being allowed to have permanent fencing, would it be possible to arrange a membership where it entitles you to entry to away games instead, or a combination of home games not held at Whitten Oval and away games?
I understand this would reduce gate takings from other teams but if we continued to pull decent crowds as we have could they make up for it through food and bev?
Just spitballing but curious as to others thoughts could something along these lines work, would it be worthwhile or just not feasible?
My life is a very complicated drinking game.

I like that idea. As you point out if we can't erect a permanent fence then we are going to come up with a membership of some description.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Was just thinking it could be a way to generate a bit of extra money to cover the cost of running the VFL side. With the interest Footscray has generated you might be able to get 5000 or so members if it was priced reasonably and could arrange some kind of benefits to members like entry into some away games. If we continued to pull decent crowds would other sides see some benefit in foregoing gate entry for larger crowds and the extra $$ in food and drink sales maybe?

I think you could get 5000 members at say $50 that is $250,000.

Where do I sign, I'd love an option in my WB membership pack to get it as part of it.

Like the VFL final tickets we were able to give a donation as well.

The club already take X amount on top of the club membership as a donation to the VFL team.

I'd be concerned by having a seperate VFL membership some would only renew the VFL one and not the AFL one.

Would you make AFL membership a pre-requisite?
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

It's a tough one - having it as a pre-requisite would alienate certain members. Not sure what the solution is.

Perhaps a voluntary donation is the way to go.

That could be an issue unfortunately, you would hope not though, i was thinking it might be a way to get some lapsed or new members back involved but yeah would have to take your point into consideration as well.

I agree it is a great way to bring lapsed members back into the fold again.

                        Defiantly the way to go.
If we start isolating the two teams we will end up with separate factions at the club and with our supporter base, really it would end no different than being aligned with Willy or Werribee.

Footscray Bulldogs VFL memberships now available. I'm content with my Western Bulldogs AFL membership but if I do end up going to VFL games this year then it might be an option as an add on.

Are you Bulldog, Through & Through? 2026 memberships are on sale now!

I purchased a Footscray membership on Saturday. I've been inspired by our number one ticket holder who purchased 1,000 memberships for disadvantaged people and I'm going to see what I can do via the Bulldogs Backyard option. I know a lot of the good folks here on WOOF do something similar. If people can afford it I think it's rewarding.
