I understand this would reduce gate takings from other teams but if we continued to pull decent crowds as we have could they make up for it through food and bev?
Just spitballing but curious as to others thoughts could something along these lines work, would it be worthwhile or just not feasible?
I think there is a chance that there will be fencing in some form that will be completed soon. Maybe it means free entry to the outer but along the members area they should be able to close it off. The membership for Footscray is now in the form of an old fashioned book where it will be clipped by the staff to gain entry and I think members have access to the stands not the people who just attend on the day.

This is a bit of speculation from what I heard on the weekend

The ground is now fenced all around $60 gets you membership
And $80 gets you in the stand.. It's to help the club pay for the VFL sides costs and I will probably buy the grandstand one .. What's $20 extra anyway.

Say if you don't get a Footscray VFL membership are you able to still get in by buying a ticket at the gate at WO. I'm sure though they would be encouraging people at the ground to buy a VFL membership. On street view from Gordon street there is no fencing but good idea especially for younger kids who will move around to keep them safe.

It's all just grandstand and standing general admission at Whitten Oval I believe. Much like when we play the Nab game there.

Ok cool. Yeah what we're your experienced of going to WO Footscray VFL matches last year ledge. I should have gone to the Footscray v Willy QF last year. Heard the atmosphere with that game was great.

No but the Footscray membership counts towards the Western Bulldogs membership total.

Frankly if true then we have been dudded. We have used our Afl membership for years to get into VFL matches.

We could probably use our Western Bulldogs AFL membership BAD to buy tickets for VFL games if you were wanting to go.

I wouldn't say we have been dudded. Whilst we could use our AFL membership in the past, this was to get into games at Werribee where he had to watch our players in Tiger jumpers to the tune of the Crows theme song and at an incredibly windswept and cold Williamstown with our players playing in jumpers that were a combination of Richmond and West Coast.

We now have our own team, under the Footscray name, in our own jumper, playing at our home ground and our players are being coached for development to AFL level. It is costing the club many hundreds of thousands of dollars to do this and I think its reasonable what they have done in introducing the membership and gate admission to cover the costs.

Whilst I agree with what you have said about running costs etc what I don't like is devaluing the membership I have. I am happy to put money in but I don't like privileges taken away.
Only last week I bought three backyard dogs memberships to help the club.
