Re: Different or unusual hobbies you have
When we play gigs we have a track or two with clean vocals we play at the top of the set to good crowds but we empty the room pretty quick by the midway point and usually play the second half to other band members on the bill and their girlfriends. We don’t play for anyone other than us though so we are good with it. We mainly record and sell online overseas these days. But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.Comment

I have to do some certifications for work so as part of prep for the exam I played around with making a copilot and decided it should use WOOF as it's only source.
It's not good (can't even tell me what the 20 game rule is) but I did like this response when I asked it about BAD. Was hoping it'd be something about players being too fat but this was good too.
I think the prime years part may be conflating BAD with those of us in their early 30s...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]😀 1😂 1Comment

I for one couldn't stop talking about Som Docherty's return for Carlton[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]😂 1Comment

"The main topic of discussion on the WOOF forum on Saturday, 25 September 2021, was likely related to the 2021 AFL season, including the performance of teams like West Coast and the Western Bulldogs, as well as player injuries and comebacks, such as Sam Docherty's return for Carlton"
I for one couldn't stop talking about Som Docherty's return for Carlton
But the again that season didn't count so I suppose back to Doc we go."It's over. It's all over."😂 1Comment

I distinctly remember having some discussions around midnight centred around Sam Docherty and West Coast’s season and nothing else at all. All very agreeable from memory.Park that car
Drop that phone
Sleep on the floor

Re: Different or unusual hobbies you have
I've been learning a new guitar style these past 6-12 months.
I've always had a passion for the Blues, but had really only focused my playing on more contemporary styles from the 50's onward.
I've now turned my attention to older Delta and country blues by learning Robert Johnson, Sleepy John Estes, Son House and some Charley Patton songs.
It's been a lot of fun, and playing with different tunings, picking, timings and incorporating more slide has been rewarding and beneficial to my overall playing.
A mate alerted me to a sale at Derringers Adelaide, so I picked up this (original RRP was about $1150):
A bit better than the Samick entry level I bought as a sixteen year old.......and in a cost of living crisis genuinely losing money by not taking on such a great bargain!TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.👍 2Comment

Mal I've just purchased the second bass I've ever purchased.........almost thirty years in between the two though......and I haven't played in 25 years!

Let us know how you enjoy it.
I'm planning to go to Derringers Adelaide next week, as I'm flying there for work Tuesday/Wednesday next week. It's right near my work's office.👍 1Comment

I'd jump onto the website in advance if you're looking for some gear. There's a fair bit on sale.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.👍 1Comment

AS for the swerve. Probs for the best if I give that a swerve. Not sure I need a divorce right now...I stretched things when I bought my Strat......then a couple of years later a Regal resonator....and then the year after a digital audio interface and a whole bunch of software and mics so I could plug, play and record on my computer...Each time swearing profusely this is it.. this is all I need....
The first thing my wife said when I told her I had to go to Adelaide for work next week was....'oh that's the office right near that what was it Berringers you told me about last time you went there for work??? So I take that as a subtle hint my dearest is acutely aware of thought processes are going through my brain....😂 1Comment

I have so many hobbies it's not even funny. The one that's really engaging me at the moment though is photography. It's also engaging my wallet, but by the sounds of things that's not uncommon in this thread.
Thought I might share a few recent shots, mostly from around the west.

I also have many (probably too many hobbies) which kind of get pushed back from time to time with work, family commitments etc etc, like a few in this thread cooking although wouldn't call it a hobbie as such, it's just something i do at home for the family (wife rarely cooks) and have cooked for 30 odd years, a 6 hour slow cooked roast or Weber q roast, a fried rice or pancakes on the flattop (griddle), lemon chicken is a fave (don't forget to add the custard powder!), pasta's, schnitty's, chinese, Vietnamese whatever, i'll give it a crack, also like BAD said, find stacks of good recipes on YT and just enjoy experimenting with different flavours.
Vinyl records and music in general, first record bought was back in '78 (Ripsnorter compilation), latest record bought was last week was Aphrodites Child's 666 featuring Vangelis and Demis Roussos on the Vertigo Swirl label which featured Prog rock and folk style records, Sabbath probably the biggest band on the swirl. Before the resurgence of vinyl (nearly 10 years ago) you could go out and buy a near mint Born To Run for $5, or an Icehouse record for $2 also in near mint condition, Fleetwooc Mac for around the same, now, those same records in near mint would be $40-$50, but right into collecting the Vertigo Swirls, mostly released around '70-'73.
Also music related leant to play drums in school which really help with timing with music production which i also do as a hobby, remixing etc, owned a KORG M1 back in the day mainly for programming though, one highlight was mixing an Indian percussion outfit for live performances and martial arts training and performing, learning to DJ Mix with Technics 1200 turntables (still own two) back in the later 80's also really help you with timing in regards to certain aspects of production.
Photography, until my little one dropped my good camera (Nikon) and pretty much shattered it, i only really use the Pixel 7 Pro phone now but always love just going out and about taking shots, also dabble in arts, drawing, painting, pastels etc, again, finding the time.
Cricket bats, mainly my favourite brand Symonds (my avatar) which were, and still just a bit, huge in the 70's and 80's (Kingsgrove Sports through Harry Solomon continue to remake a select few of them each year) , my first adult bat was a Symonds Super Tusker (i blame Nigel Kellett who i would regularly play against back in the day and he made a ton against us using one), picking up cheap run down ready for the tip bats and restoring them back to their original glory, also some i might change a shape here and there and re-brand, the orbital sander with the 120 grit, then over again with the 240 grit to give that willow a nice extremely smooth finish, before re-sticker (re-design my own) or off ebay depending on brand, and an oil or poly finish.👍 3Comment
