My wife doesn't go near the kitchen, so I do all the cooking at home from breakfast to dinner. I love watching cooking shows, especially if it includes travel. I also read all the recipes in the papers and will look up recipes online. I tend to cook something different every night, whether it may be Korean, Italian, or whatever we feel like it, and I rarely repeat the same thing from week to week.

    Anyone else like to cook?

Just cooked up my first winter warmer for the year today, and while to cook is not a different or unusual hobby it's not something I've been able to give a lot of thought to outside of the odd family occasion etc. This is what I just sampled this evening, in full knowledge it will be better once it's sat for 24 hours and reheated.

Add a modern-day twist to a classic bolognese with Tom Kerridge's exquisite beef ragout. Serve with hand-cut pappardelle pasta for a great dinner party dish

It was actually really good. I had it in the oven for longer than advised because I had a bit more beef and stock, plus the vegetables were a bit bigger than the usual. Won't ever be top notch restaurant quality, given I can't bring myself to use enough salt for that, but it was still excellent.

I play drums in a folk metal band. Finnish inspired mainly. We play the odd gig. It's quite a niche genre and not for everyone.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Re: Different or unusual hobbies you have

I've been learning a new guitar style these past 6-12 months.
I've always had a passion for the Blues, but had really only focused my playing on more contemporary styles from the 50's onward.
I've now turned my attention to older Delta and country blues by learning Robert Johnson, Sleepy John Estes, Son House and some Charley Patton songs.
It's been a lot of fun, and playing with different tunings, picking, timings and incorporating more slide has been rewarding and beneficial to my overall playing.

I've only got three chords and the truth (man's got to know his limitations) but I love playing guitar. I respect anyone that can actually play.

Sick. Not Nirvana covers like I used to rock, but super sick.

The more I think about this the more I demand some youtube recordings.

I made this last night as a starter, but also can be a lunch.

Easy to make and very delicious

Shop-bought, ready-rolled puff pastry comes into its own here: cut into circles as desired. If you're feeling impatient, make one large tart by transferring the entire sheet of pastry onto a baking tray, scoring the border as described, then spreading the mushroom filling within it. You won't get the extra-crispy edges of the individual tarts, but it will be equally delicious.

Love Robert Johnson. And Bessie Smith, sometimes when she hits a certain note I can feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Yeah she's awesome. Shamefully I only discovered her recently after reading 'The history of the Blues' by Francis Davis.
Memphis Minnie is another I found too via the book above. She's awesome, great voice and an accomplished guitarist too

The throat growling stuff isn't my style (but each to their own of course) but I dig the music.
