The DRS has been a complete c0ck up from the start, and has made umpires second guess themselves and become poor at their jobs. But we can't blame it for the way we lost.
Despite the DRS, the umpires have got to get it right. There are only something like 12 ICC umpires, and of those only a few non Australian/English.

Maybe it is time to have English and Australian umpires in our matches, ie one of each.

I still think we didn't have enough runs to cover 2 and a half days of cricket. 359 was not enough. Marnus run out was ridiculous, why he went for the second run I don't know.

Stokes was actually brilliant, I am afraid to say. Bowled 24 overs and claimed 3 wickets, then he was very patient with his batting. At one stage he had faced 74 balls for 3 runs, then patiently built up his score. He knew he had 2 days to bat, so why be rash.

With Starc's ability to knock over tails very quickly, I still don't understand how he's not in contention for a spot.

He should be ahead of Pattinson in the pecking order.

We had a chance in the 2nd dig to bat looong and failed. The fact that only Lambuschagne was capable of putting his head down and grinding our a decent score is why we lost this test. If that 246 had been 300 or 350, it was game over.
This. The batting line-ups for both teams are poor. Smith saved our blushes in the first 2 tests and Stokes has in this test.

The quality of first-class batting around the world has been rapidly diminishing ever since T20 has exploded. Some of the England dismissals in their first innings were utterly embarrassing, and our batting hasn't been much better. There is little or no propensity to dig in when required - Stokes, Denly and Root showed the value of this in the 2nd dig, as did Marnus in both innings.

              What a debacle
Do we ever win these close tests ?

The players shouldn’t be pseudo umpires anyway
They play , and the officials officiate
Put it back in the hands of the officials

Agree - think he plays the fourth test.

Is it just me or does Archer chuck the occasional delivery?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
