What a farcical situation... who thought it would be a good idea to let the athletes decide?

Awesome run by Peter Bol in his 800m SF.. Going to be tough to beat Rotich, but he looks a decent chance to medal which would be amazing.

I think it's something that's been in place all along, it's just rarely required/ used. I don't feel strongly about it either way.
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

It's apparently in the actual rules, weirdly enough.

I guess if two sprinters tie on times, or two discus throwers throw the same distance - it is a deadheat/two winners - all the events are athletics. They do have the countback of how many misses - so it rarely happens. I thought it was a good moment.

Yeah I thought it was touching. The bigger farce is when the top 12 qualify for the final and the athletes go all picket line when 25 of them are tied for 1st in the Pole Vault
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

              Heartbreak for the Maryland
Matildas, loosing their semi final to Sweden.

I still can't figure out why Sam Kerr's goal was disallowed.

Better news for the Opals, making out to the quarter finals by virtue of a 25+ point win against Puerto Rico.

I've watched the replay multiple times and still can't figure out where the block is.

As Andy Maher said, why not let it play out and have VAR check for a block afterwards. They are always letting clear offsides play out under the same principle.

Sweden's goal was unfortunate as well. Thought the Matilda's had improved with every match of these games.

I didn't see a 38 point win by the Boomers over Argentina coming.

How good was the standing ovation that both teams gave the retiring Luis Scola.

Once the Argie's were down by more than 15pts in the last they threw in the towel, but the Boomers certainly have some depth and put them away.

The added athleticism of Exum and Thybulle at both ends has really given this team a new look and on form they have the ability to really push the US.

Fingers crossed. Nothing sweeter than knocking them off.

Agree. Both competitors were obviously fine with it. Can’t see what the controversy is surrounding it.

Loved the pole vault last night. What a great spectacle. Duplantis was amazing. So close to jumping 6.19m.

Other great moments were Warholm and Benjamin in the 400m hurdles and Thompson-Herah completing the sprint double for the 2nd time. Amazing stuff.
