    The thread is quickly sliding into a more political theme than is acceptable. Please lets try and keep it more focused on the Commonwealth games than making a political stance.

                                    The 2019 scoping/feasibility study paid for by Vic government and councils for the event was for a bid on 2034. Apparently all the stakeholders and Vic government all agreed there was not time to make a bid on 2030 so it was parked for 2034, with a 15 year lead time. To reduce the risk of cost blow outs.

                                    Then before the last election it was sought for 2026 against their own report conclusions and recommendations. Everyone knew this couldn?t be done. And everyone was right.

                                        Very disappointing to lose the Comm games. If we could not commit to it we should never have signed the contract. The state is in a financial mess.

                                                $250,000,000 in the hole in just the last two published budgets. The only question is how high the figure will be to pull out the games their own feasibility study said don’t do before 2034.
