    Re: T20 World Cup - 2022

A couple of big overs has Australia well placed to post a considerable score.
Stoinis has proven himself again after a somewhat slow start.
We need to get this score close to 200 and bowl them out for 120.

      It's turning into a pantsing.

How does the scoring work, in terms of getting benefit from winning margin?
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Well it didn't quite get to the pantsing stage mainly due to a great innings by Lorcan Tucker but a solid enough win by Australia

Starc gets a double wicket maiden in his first over but goes for plenty after that so Ireland probably score 15 more runs than what we would have hoped for.

Spent a nice arvo/night in the London Tavern waiting for a game to start that never did. At least we will get a refund.

Bad result last night with England beating NZ. Now we either need England to lose to Sri Lanka or we need to smash Afghanistan by a large enough margin to overtake England's NRR.

There are a couple of other scenarios but these 2 are the most likely ways we can go through.

Was a shame the rain delay came when it did, Litton Das was on fire and put Bangladesh in a very strong position. Unfortunately he got run out when they returned to the field. They still almost snatched it. India very lucky in 2 games now.

Pakistan really got their act together last night and outplayed South Africa.
They scored 185 and bowled SA out for 108.

Big game against Afghanistan. The next few overs will tell the story
We are currently 4 for 112 off 13 overs.

I'm glad I didn't watch most of the innings, disappointed I watched the last few overs.

Spirited fight by Afghanistan falling just short of the 168 runs we set. A big inning by Rashid Khan the highlight.

Where to now for the Australian team?
They need to have a rethink on how they set-up for T20 cricket going forward.
The ball doesn't beat the bat that much so do we need a first string keeper unless he is excellent with the bat?
Would McDermott be an alternative at the top of the order and with the gloves allowing us to add another bowling all rounder like Sams or Agar?

Sri Lanka needs to beat England for us to go through. Very disappointing with the bat tonight and all credit to Rashid for almost getting AFG over the line.

Sri Lanka looked good at times but England just too professional.

I really hope that if we are going to treat T20 cricket seriously we have a rethink about picking specialist players not just variations on test players with some top ups.
We also need to have a rethink about using first string keepers as the ball just doesn't beat the bat enough unless they can hold their spot in the top 6 batsman.

Finch, Warner, Smith, Starc and K.Richardson and probably Wade should not be picked again in this version of the game.

I think Wade is retiring anyhow. We need some young blood to come in as the team is made up of alot of 34 plus year olds.

We really stuffed up with selection and didn't deserve to progress any further.
