    Scottish Premiership League

End of the Season. Scottish Cup ahead, Old Firm and Hibs-Hearts games past. Celtic have already won the League, if they happen to win the Cup, more likely than not, how does that impact on 5th placed, Hibs ? As I understand it, if Celtic take the Cup, Hibs sneak through to Europe. How does it work out ?

PS. Every 'dogs supporters without an existing SPL affiliation should support Hibs.

    Thanks for starting the thread

A great mate of mine married a lovely Scottish lass many years ago and for some reason he followed Motherwell so it's been my default team in the SPL for many years. I wouldn't be against following any team in the SPL.

I think Granty will be across the qualification requirements.

Motherwell, on 40 points, look safe from relegation, it's Kilmarnock, Ross County (Staggies ?) and Dundee United at risk. Partick Thistle looking to join the SPL. Celtic play Inverness Caledonian Thistle (what a great name, Western Bulldogs ? comme c'est ordinaire, Smorgo should have paid more attention in his French classes) in the Scottish Cup on Sunday. Tell your mate and his bride that Inverness CT belted Motherwell 4:0 in the Cup lead ups last September.

He could at the lower levels, maybe some of the newly promoted teams if they start to struggle.

Or even a Leicester / Leeds type in the championship.

Ideally I think Ange landing at a team that could jump into the EPL like the team you nominated would be a good thing and help build his reputation.

My Dad was born in Scotland with my grandfather a mad Rangers supporter. Gran was Hearts.

I'm travelling with the old man back to visit Scotland in late July/early August and hoping to catch a game between any teams as we line up with the start of next season. Just waiting for the fixtures to come out at the end of June.

There have been some reports linking Ange to Tottenham.

I'm Hibernian (very loosely) as I love Edinburgh. Was there for the 2014 devolution powers referendum and I was really caught up in the patriotism.

There's a thing called the Scottish Premier League?

Are Scottish people even GOOD at soccer?

And all those people singing a George Michael song to their Australian coach were Scottish people?

And people in Australia KNOW about this stuff?
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

The alternative for you is Heart of Midlothian. I understand that the original Heart of Midlothian was a jail. What caught my eye with Hibs was that it broke a real drought in 2016 winning the Scottish Cup, 114 years.

according to a friend who is big into soccer, there was / is a strong Scottish influence in the local soccer scene, as much in administration of junior / local clubs as at coaching.

Currently one of the favourites to get the Tottenham job. It'd be a huge task

The Scottish Cup, scene of Hib’s world record drought break in May 2016, is to be played at 5.30 p m on Saturday. That’s
(a). a break with tradition, the traditional kick off is 3.00 p m. A harbinger of a move for the Grand Final to twilight / night start ?
(b). 2.30 am Sunday Melbourne time. Apparently showing at The Vine, Bridge Road, R’mond.

Celtic v Inverness Caledonian Thistle (how would Brian Taylor go calling that) which plays in the Champioship Leage, a rung below the Premiership League, shades of Sunderland FA Cup 1973. A Non Premiership League team has never played in the Scottish Cup since it’s creation in 2013 and a team from outside the top flight division of Scottish soccer has only ever won the Cup once, 1893 when Queens Park, which plays in the Championship League, defeated Celtic. Possible history in the making.

Not any longer. The Scottish Premier League was a breakaway League from the Scottish Football League in 1997. In 2013, the 2 merged into the Scottish Professional Football League, of which the Premiership League is the highest division, analogous to the EPL in the FA in England.
