Re: Scottish Premiership League
Not for a while, now and I'll wager it's harder to Top the EPL than it is to win an AFL Premiership. The former recruits from the world, the latter from the southern states of the most isolated continent on the planet. Half the 'Spurs 11 will be Japanese and Socceroos and Danny Blanchflower's double back in 1960-61 become rivalled, like Jock Stein's teams.
An opportunity for me to tell my favourite Jock Stein yarn. In sectarian Glasgow, Rangers would never select a Catholic. Stein's Celtic were more pragmatic. Stein was once asked who he would choose between 2 players of equal quality, the one a protestant, the other, catholic. Stein said he would always choose the protestant because he knew that Rangers wouldn't select the catholic, so Celtic got 2 instead of 1 among the best players in Scotland. Sam Poweresque ?Comment

Well it's official. Ange has signed for 4 years at Tottenham.
I'm shocked honestly. I wish him well.Comment

Re: Scottish Premiership League
Has anybody been to Celtic Park before? If so how did you go about getting tickets?
They have just released the fixture and we will be in Glasgow for the first round v Ross County but tickets not on sale yet and I've got no idea whether they are obtainable for the general public.Comment

Re: Scottish Premiership League
SPL kicks off this week. Hibs v St Mirren. In the meantime, though, having knocked off Europa Gibralta in July, Hibs continued on its giant-killing ways, reversing its 1:2 defeat in Andorra by belting d'Escaldes 6:1 in the second leg with socceroo Martin Boyle slotting in the first 2. Hibs advance to the next stage of the Europa League against another giant of European Soccer, Luzern (Switzerland). Now that Ange has gone south to the land of the Sassenach, Celtic might be beatable.Comment

Re: Scottish Premiership League
Hibs continue its historic pillage of European Leagues, most recent victim FC Luzern in the impregnable Swiss Super League. Hibs 3:1 up against FC Luzern in the first leg, 3rd round. If Hibs hold firm in Luzern, then it's Aston Villa in the next round.
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyouComment

Re: Scottish Premiership League
In the meantime, pending the second leg in Luzern on Friday, Hibs lose to Motherwell 2:1 which puts them 11 of 12 on the Table. Having the optomisim of a lifetime 'Dogs supporter, the 2 losses have been to St Mirren, 2nd (to, of course, Celtic) and Motherwell 4th.
Sorrow, sorrow, sorrow, sorrow.Last edited by D Mitchell; 17-08-2023, 08:14 AM.Comment

Re: Scottish Premiership League
Game just finished 2 all in Lucerne. Hibs through to next Round.. Hearts v Rosenberg 3:1 but equal over the 2 rounds.. It’s only Conference league but better than in SPL for both Edinburgh clubs.Comment
