My grandparents who emigrated from Scotland in the early 1950s are life members of Sunshine (now Caroline Springs apparently?) George Cross FC. I believe they were involved in Sunshine City who merged with George Cross in the 1980s.

Yes that's right. Western United trained there for a couple of seasons in the new facilities they are pretty amazing for local setup.

I went to their first ever game there as I live close by.

Now they are out at The Hangar which is more pro obviously.

Nice facilities. Wonder what my Grandad would make of that compared to the cow paddocks and tin sheds I expect they had in 50s and 60s.

I see Celtic nailed their Scottish Cup game and there is speculation that Ange is on the move.

Ange to Spurs is looking a thing for real now.

Not sure it's a great move for either party. Premier league is a big step up in general but going to the spurs is an even bigger step up than a lower or even mid prem side. I'd think Ange is better off progressively climbing the ladder. He could fall hard at spurs. Gee it'd be HUGE if he had success though.

My very limited exposure to Postecoglu was his appearances on Offsiders on Sunday mornings. He exuded pride at being, his words, the manager of the National Team, elevating soccer towards cricket where the captain of the test team is historically said to be second in importance only to the Prime Minister. Back in the 19 mumble mumbles, I spent 2 years in London and became a 'Spurs supporter, regularly going to White Hart Lane (Pat Jennings, odd miracle in his repertoire; Big Willie Young, bang the ball as far away from the goal as is possible; Glen Hoddle "Hoddle for England clap. clap, clap"; Ralph Coates, surely Kevin Bartlett's hairstyle model; older statesman, Steve Perryman) to watch a game I barely understood but a footy fix and influenced by a mate I made, the son of a 'Spurs great. If Postecoglu leaves Celtic, if not Hibs, Lee Johnson seems to doing OK, anyway, then good luck to him at Spurs. Is the gap between SPFL and EPL really that great ?

Arse'nal boys, make more noise, when they play with Tonka toys, nah nah, nah nah, nah nah nah nah, nah nah, nah nahhhh. Memories, happy days.

It's a massive gap and a huge step up for Ange. I wish him well and I pity the guy who replaces him at Celtic because he achieved so much there it will be hard to compete against.

Port Adelaide sought to join the VFL as an independent club, pre 1991, hastening the formation of Adelaide by the SANFL. You can work out the issues and intrigues. Is there any reason that Celtic, even Celtic and Rangers together, didn't, couldn't join the EPL ?

I hate Spurs so I'm honestly stoked to see them hit rock bottom and appoint a no name.

Aussie hat on - very proud on Ange. Worried it's a bridge too far.

Gerrard went from Rangers to Aston Villa and was disaster.

Are 'Spurs Essendon in your view ? My sojourn in the UK was too short to pick up on all of football cultural differences, except that 'Spurs had a significant Jewish following and that Arsenal and 'Spurs supporters didn't like each other much. What was then vigorous banter in the schoolyard would invite the jurisdiction of the Human Rights Commission in contemporary Victoria.

More like a team that's done nothing despite the cash spent on them, however consider themselves to be top flight.

Can't really think of an AFL equivalent. Maybe GWS however Spurs are an old club.

I do recall hearing that mentioned years back but the two clubs are basically the heartbeat of the SPL and there was a fear it would cripple the competition. I wonder if they would have the ability to stay up in the EPL and if they would be more inclined to be mid table sides in the Championship? They draw excellent crowds because they keep winning and would that be impacted if they were just averages sides in the championship?

The league would initially struggle for a few years like the SANFL did but then sort itself out.
