The big news is that Hibs have appointed Dave Grey, skipper and final goal scorer in the 2016 Cup, perennial interim coach, to full status, which might mean a tenure far shorter than even that of McCartney. Congratulations to The Bhoys on their 43rd Scottish Cup. Last night, cycling along Heidelberg Road, Fairfield in my Hibs shirt, a bloke in a car screamed out his support for Rangers, which didn't hold back on the F adjective. He turned off to go to Dan Murphys, I decided it'd be better to keep riding.

Covid. Youtube. 2016, the singing of "My Heart was Broken" from May 2016 SPL Cup, a Club with a longer Premiership drought than ours. Irish ancestry. The Hibs shirt is second only to the FFC jumper. Let's reduce Northern Hemisphere religio-politics to amusing asides for the descendents of those who stayed, they've more than enough on their plates with European Elections this weekend, the forthcoming General Election and elections for the Dail next June. Google the Pub Landlord's Geordies contribution to defeating the Germans in WWII and show it to mrs GG. Might I add that I was a schoolteacher in London in the mid '70s. One of the teachers on staff was a geordie, smart bloke, never paid a fare on the underground, he reckoned that he'd get fined fewer times so that it'd be less than his tickets. Is Mrs GG of that ilk ?

Our Geordie was an Arts teacher, can't remember his name, now, but he rocked up to bat in the 1st 11 v Staff match in black jeans & shirt ! The staff was from all over Britain, there was a lass from Sydney and a Canadian.

            Such privileged lives we've had

I remember the first time i went over i ended up in a pub with my uncle in law, the match was on and everyone had black on and short shaved heads.

I'd just stepped of the plane it was an experience I'll never forget.

As time progressed he's taken me to St. James' park and some friendlies when im over ive been very lucky.

They come from a steel town called Consett in County Durham. Generations went through the steel works until it closed after the debacle that was the UK in the 70s. The steel for the harbour bridge came from there.
              Great people.

                Thanks, GG.

The conditions under which lived your Durham folk are why we are here. The irony is that the worst that happened to our forebears is the foundation of the best in which we live. My first visit was in the '70s, similar experiences to yours, tears as I walked down O'Connell Street for the first time. I stayed, in North London, teaching, for 2 extraordinarily wonderful, years. Not great, greatest people.

Happy King Charles B'Day for tomorrow to you and all Woofers. NB A good day to boil up the Xmas pud.
