Yeah it's a worrying trend. It's a hard one, Newcastle for example is a working class city. The football team lifts the entire population when going well, so for someone to invest money and time into the club and the area really gives a boost to the entire region.
Where do you draw the line when it comes to where the capital comes from. I'm not sure anyone is squeaky clean when it comes to that level of cash, however I totally understand the arguments against.
