Re: English Premier League 2023/2024 Season Thread

We have fallen so far. The standards at Man Utd have slipped and aren't what they were. We are beaten comfortably by Man City 3-0 at home. Ten Hag under early pressure and something needs to happen soon.

Sprus, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City look the goods at the moment.

I'd go as far to say that the top 4 is set, just finishing position to sort out.

UCL will drag Newcastle down a bit.

Good to see only 4 points separating the top 5 and goal differences very similar. Hopefully no run away leader as the season goes on.

We simply dont have the depth for a title chase.
Liverpool look the goods and of course City is City.

Because of their depth or is it more about those schedules of playing Thursday and Saturday?

Both, Barnes is injured, Isak is injured, Tonali gone, Murphy injured, Botman injured....
We hit the CL way earlier than planned it's probably a 5 year build.
Hopefully we can replace Tonali, however FFP might stop us doing that.
We can't just go nuts and spend like Man City did back in the day.

                Combination of both.

Another couple of windows should fix that though.

I wonder when the last time it was ten games into the season and there were two undefeated teams?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

My poor old saints had a bad start but are now putting it together.
Looks like Leicester and Ipswich will be promoted even this early.
I happened to flick to league 1 and noticed Portsmouth on top, that’s a surprise they have been in a hell of a mess the last few years.

The promoted teams are really struggling atm. It seems like the gap has grown. Lots of money injected into the league, with teams like Aston Villa, Brighton, Newcastle etc all much stronger than they were previously.

I think letting oil money from nations come into the premier league has really destroyed it's remaining integrity, outside of the pure amount of money from these countries.

The Everton penalties are highlighting this. The fact that nations own teams means it's now a political league. Clubs are tied to international politics.

                                I blame City
