Re: English Premier League 2023/2024 Season Thread
There's something really off about the vibe in British sport at the moment.
Doesn't seem to be any joy or humour in the way it's consumed. From all accounts it's not a very nice place to be at present due to the state of living standards, perhaps that's permeating the sporting landscape.

Great game where both teams had the chance to win - a draw keeps us on top.
Huge result for the Gunners.
Newcastle fell flat at Kenilworth Rd. Reality hitting at the moment.
Probably not a bad thing, and remembering where we've come from the relative comfort of a top half position going into Christmas is ok by me.
Hopefully we can get some form together soon. Relentless schedule though.
Ange has steadied the ship at Spurs. In a CL spot currently.

Its about as miserable as its been in the 20 odd years I have been here. 10 or so years of a Conservative Government with no clue how to react to geo-political issues other than blaming migrants, the working class and eveyone bar their donors. This permeates into the wider social element. Crrme is up, more people are resorting to food banks, cost of lving is much more expensive and there is a housing crisi brought on by a planning system that is antiquated and a sector increasingly dominated by corporate landlords.
People on both sides of the spectrum are fed up and looking for a change, but no one quite trusts a labour government to sort the mess out.

Good win against Chelsea though and that's a nice Xmas present for you.
Chelsea supporters will be hoping for a windfall in the Jan transfer window
Villa equal with the most number of wins so far in the season is a huge surprise isn't it?
Wolves home form is fortunately looking like it'll get them to safety this season. Neto coming back in soon will be a huge bonus.
Chelsea trying to spend their way out of trouble is objectively hilarious.
Villa have been excellent although nearly had a massive slip against the Blades the other day. Reckon there'll be some weird results with the condensed fixtures in the next week.

Gawd Newcastle look slow at the back and a better finishing side would have found the back of the net more than once against us today. Half time 1-1 against Forest isn't great.

Down 1-3 at home with Chris Wood getting a hat trick (the guy only scored one PL goal at St James in his time with us). Disgraceful from Newcastle with 25 minutes to play.
So pathetic and reactive behind the ball.
