I am not big on dropping Punter diown the order, but, here's an option:

Bringing Rogers in to open with Katich, bat Clarke at 3, Watson 4 [Jacques Kallis probably bowls as much as Watson and has owned the 2nd drop position in the batting order with SA], Ponting 5 and bat Hughes at 6, give him some confidence down the order, and a free licence to play more shots.

I don't like that idea.

Ponting
White

Hughes gets the nod before Rogers due to age and looking towards the future. I would love for Klinger to start opening for SA to give us another younger option.

BTW its a welcome change to see a pitch with something more in it for the bowlers. The batsman get it far too easy these days.

Good point Ernie and i agree, the only problem is then games struggle to go 5 days and the grounds miss out on a day or twos crowd, but we do get a result.

Just shows what a little better pitch and valueing your wicket can achieve.

Must say the commentators are giving me the irritables, "a couple of wickets will fall soon" etc

How about some credit for the batsman getting through a rough patch and fighting it out?

Very bias in my opinion.
