Bringing Rogers in to open with Katich, bat Clarke at 3, Watson 4 [Jacques Kallis probably bowls as much as Watson and has owned the 2nd drop position in the batting order with SA], Ponting 5 and bat Hughes at 6, give him some confidence down the order, and a free licence to play more shots.
    I don't like that idea.

    My six would be
    Katich
    Hughes
    Watson
    Clarke
    Ponting
    White

Hughes gets the nod before Rogers due to age and looking towards the future. I would love for Klinger to start opening for SA to give us another younger option.

I agree, I love watching tests played on pitches like this.

So why not bat Klinger at 3 and continue opening with Katich & Watson?

Good point Ernie and i agree, the only problem is then games struggle to go 5 days and the grounds miss out on a day or twos crowd, but we do get a result.

I would rather have Watson batting at 3 or 4.

Why is North at first slip?

Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Is that where he fields for WA, as he doesn't look like a natural slips fieldsmen?

                        Yep.

Could you imagine him in the covers? His arse is as big as Tubby Taylor's... atleast Taylor had a good set of hands.

                          Speaking of BIG, Cosgrove!
Could of been a very good player for Australia, had and has talent as big as his gut but sadly his metabolism doesnt work as quick as he eats.

Pakis 0/72 whats that tell you about batting first on a green pitch and how it gets easier the next day?
                            Great move to bat first.

For those watching has the pitch improved that much such that the Paki's are 0/71 at present?

I saw the first few overs and the ball was still darting around off the deck.

Just shows what a little better pitch and valueing your wicket can achieve.

Must say the commentators are giving me the irritables, "a couple of wickets will fall soon" etc

How about some credit for the batsman getting through a rough patch and fighting it out?

                                Very bias in my opinion.
