Re: Australia vs Pakistan
I don't understand the modern captains thinking in setting these 'in-out' fields. Just gifting runs to the opposition and allowing them to play a risk free game.Comment

Re: Australia vs Pakistan
Other than rare exceptions (Taylor was one, Clarke -- who, for all his numbnutsness is actually quite a smart bloke -- looks like he may be another), most captains are prisoners of orthodoxy, groupthink or current trends rather than real-time improvisers.
Perhaps the NFL has it right after all in (in most cases) letting the head coach, who is in the job for his intellectual/tactical aptitude, be the one making real-time tactical calls (in consultation with their quarterback) rather than relying on individuals who are in the team for their physical attributes.Comment

Re: Australia vs Pakistan
Hopefully we can now get at least 200 plus in front, and those nasty little demons will start creeping into the Pakistani's minds, and again, this will be Hauritz's time to shine again, on his home turf, going to make for some inrteresting cricket, whichever way the games goes, game on!Comment

Re: Australia vs Pakistan
Butt has just had a LBW reversed on video evidence -- clear inside-edge onto his pads.
If the video has done nothing else all summer except reverse that clear howler I still think it's done it's job.. at least it ensures that it will be the players and not the umps who will be deciding the result of a Test.Comment

6/103 - Kamran Akmal has been the best player for Australia in this test
Pretty insipid choke on a belter of a day 4 batting track, which is more like a day 3 track because of the early rain. Plenty of teams have failed to chase down small 4th innings totals in the past but not in such good batting conditions."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

Re: Australia vs Pakistan
Losing 10/105 (after being 0/34) on a belter of a pitch is very Fremantle-esque. It's plainly obvious that the Pakis don't play anywhere near enough test cricket these days - apart from Umar, nobody else was able to last more than 31 balls in this innings in terrific batting conditions, that is just shocking application with the bat. They did the same thing late in their 1st innings as well to give the Aussies a sniff of getting back in it. Some good bowling (and great catching) by the Aussies today but nearly all of the wounds were self-inflicted.
I reckon the effigy market in Karachi and Lahore will be booming tomorrow, most of them with Kamran Akmal's head on them."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment
