Pakistan drop four players, including Kamran Akmal, for third Test

Iron-gloved vice-captain Kamran Akmal ended Pakistan's farcical selection saga by finally falling into line and agreeing to drop himself for the third Test against Australia.

Kamran had this week repeatedly denied he would fall on his sword despite the Pakistan Cricket Board flying in reserve wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed to play at Bellerive Oval.

But he was one of four changes for the dead rubber as the tourists reacted strongly to their harrowing 36-run loss at the SCG.

        Re: Australia vs Pakistan

Not a bad first few overs for the Aussie's this morning, Watson is looking in good nick.

Once again the commentators have been getting stuck into Pakistan for not setting an attacking enough field early on.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Ponting gets dropped on 0, dolly of a catch really, and makes them pay, supurb ton, would have spent maybe 3 or 4 minutes in the 90's, was even an inch off reaching the triple figures whilst on 94, no mucking around, playing some great shots.

Clarke also batting well, on the verge of reaching triple figures.

It's amazing that the Pakistani side is such poor fielders.

Both Clarke and Ponting not out in the 100s. Ponting got his pull shot working again and Clarke kept his patience. Very good day for the Aussies.

Their fielding is terrible, and some of the defensive strategies have been laughable. It's a real shame, because they certainly seem to have some decent talent at their disposal.

From what I've read this morning from their coach, the fielding is very much a grass-roots problem, in that no one ever really works on their fielding from the time they start playing cricket.

The Paki's look totally demoralised after that pathetic effort in Sydney. ponting's innings from 100 to 200 was brilliant and despite what some think Clarke is a very good test batsmen

No surprise that as soon as Siddle gets back to what made him good (tight, quick bowling) he gets some results. He has been back to his best in this test with relentlessly tight bowling and a bit more patience. He has barely bowled a bouncer and his economy rate is back under 2 for the test. He didn't lose the ability when he was struggling he just changed his bowling plan for some reason.

My observation was that he was trying to be the aggressor with the short-pitched stuff which isn't his go.

Agree that he is at his most dangerous when he is bowling 'tight lines' which has done to good effect in this game.

Yeah it was fairly obvious that he had been told to do that. The person who told him to bowl like that should be shot. He is one of the best around when he bowls the way he is now.
