Both did the same thing and in sport intention really doesn't matter.

The players intent is always important.

In our code intent is used all the time. The umpire is always asked to try and understand the players intention.

We use this when judging diliberate out of bounds, reporting incidents (i.e. reckless, itnentional etc.), holding the ball (was it his intent to dispose of the ball?)

Baskbetball even has an "inentional foul".

In motor racing, accidnets are always looked into. Was it a "racing incdient" or was it the drivers intent to take him out. Different rules and laws for the two different scenarios.

Intent is taken into consideration across a number of sports.

I'd barely even call Harry Kewell's action a reflex. His arm is by his side when the ball strikes it. No amount of evasive action would have prevented the contact

They try and take it into consideration and most of the time they look stupid.

Intentional foul no longer exists in basketball for this very reason.

It may be called different names, but it still exists in every form. Call it what you want flagrant foul, unsportsmanlike foul, personal foul ... it is there.

Deserved win to Spain. Dominated possession, created the best chances. Puyol is a fantastic leader for that team, So solid in defence and just wills the team on.

well it's called a flagrant foul but that is neither here nor there.

This is called a flagrant foul.

What do you think the intent is for these fouls?

It was death by a thousand cuts. Spain dominated possession and denied Germany time & space when they had the ball.

One of the more boring games I have witnessed... I just lost 2 hours of sleep I will never get back.

Germany were terrible - zoned off their Spanish opponents at every opportunity and allowed them to set the tempo. Then, whenever the Germans won the ball they coughed it up immediately.

                              Should be an even final.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.
