      Poor shot from Clarke.
Really needs to lift his game.

What a fantastic 100 by Watson. Easily our best cricketer ATM and we would be screwed without him.

              Well left, North. Absolute spud.

Hussey can barely hit his way out of a paper bag and Watson went in to personal glory mode once he got into the 90s killing our momentum.

Ripe for the picking with the new ball and Zaheer has ripped us to shreds.

Blimey North's either feast or famine!
Zaheer's reversing and the idiot doesn't play a shot.
Good hundred by Watson he has been a shining light in our nations decline!

The frail middle order is our weakness at the moment, North must be moved on and Hussey should follow. I wouldn't be going overboard on Watsons hundred, it looks good on the scorecard but his defensive attitude really cost us some momentum especially after Pontings wicket.

I think White is the best of the available middle order batsman but I'm not sure who else could come in. We can't keep failing in the middle order to capitalise on the good starts that Watson and Katich often give us.

For me it's a simple case of drop Watson to Norths spot and one of Hughes/Klinger/Jaques/Rogers comes into open. It just settles the side a touch and improves team balance IMO

I see the merit in that but it's hard to have a compelling logic that says that moving the successful Watson away from the top of the order is a good move especially when the candidates you have mentioned haven't been knocking the door down.
Even Hussey should be replaced. To me we must find strong middle order options.

For this test the side is once again terribly imbalanced. 3 quicks and one spinner supported mainly by another quick and a decent offie who is struggling with the bat doesn't look good especially given we batted first.

But harsh on Watson IMO, he's always shakey in the ninties and made sure he got the 100.

Better off keeping Watson in a position he's made his own.

I agree and we need to do something quickly or we can kiss good bye the Ashes
