    8 Emerging Players

Whilst our cricket performance have been inconsistent there is still a number of youngsters that we should be excited about

    Mitchell Marsh - WA
    - An exciting middle order batsman and handy medium pacer.

    Nic Maddinson - NSW
    - Just turning 19, Maddison has been a strong performer with the bat this summer. Bats left handed and bowls some left arm orthodox.

    Josh Hazelwood - NSW
    - Strongly built quick bowler who is currently struggling with some injuries

    Chris Lynn - QLD
    - Having a terrific Shield season and for a 20yo he is already a very composed batsman

    Alister McDermott - QLD
    - Still only 19, McDermott is primarily used in the limited over versions for the game but is an exciting prospect.

    James Faulkner - TAS
    - A 20yo left handed bowling all-rounder and right handed batsman, Faulkner has put in some impressive performances this season.

    James Pattinson - VIC
    - A 20yo right handed quick who is hand with the bat. Rated highly and certainly one to watch

    Alex Keath - VIC
    - Currently better known as someone who turned his back on an AFL career this 18yo all-rounder is still yet to debut in a Shield game but

When you add the highly talented, but better known, youngsters to the mix like Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc and Phil Hughes I think Australian cricket can bounce back pretty quickly

Any other younger players worth listing?

Michael Hill is only 22 and just made a century against the Poms. He also captained the Australian U/19 team.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

I know he is a little older but I really like the look of Usman Khawaja.

The trouble is we have hardly picked anyone under 25 for the past ten years. The only exceptions I can think of are Hughes and Clarke. We have to start backing a few younger players and get them into the team.

Superstar in the making,I think they'll call time on Hussey and maybe Ricky might get the tap on the shoulder.

It seems they have the two perfect replacements for Ponting and Hussey in Khawaja and Ferguson too.

I do take a very keen interest. I have always been a huge cricket fan, I'm simply totally disgusted with the national selectors.

My "as if" comment was meant to mean "as if the selectors would ever drop Hussey and Ponting".

I don't tend to get all upset at the results of cricket matches like I do if the Dogs lose, for instance (I do like to see the Bushrangers win, however). One of the best days I've had at the cricket was watching Vivi make 200.

I treat cricket the way art buffs appreciate, say, ballet.

The grace of a cover drive, the power of a pull shot, the lightness of the feet as the spinner gets lofted down the ground.

If it wasn't for the Dogs, I doubt I'd care about football.
With cricket it's the opposite. The game is more important than the participants.

                        Fair enough .
I think they'll push Hussey and Punter out just as players have been given a nudge in the past.Must confess we need a total review of everything including selectors, put Chappell in charge!!

He saved Qld almost singlehandedly from a defeat today. Must've shown good composure for a young guy

Another star in the making. We just need some of the young quick bowlers to click this summer and to unearth a decent spinner and we can start to fast track their progress.
