    Re: 2011-12 EPL Thread

Go Man Utd. Chelsea v Man U is going to be a big match. On our overall season I think will beat Chelsea but they are at home and are a chance.

Considering the state of our team in terms of injures and ANC, wasn't a bad result. We should have won though.

It was a disaster for Chelsea, 3-0 up! The injuries & players absent at ANC didn't hurt when Chelsea were cruising at 3-0. I think AVB must really be looking over his shoulder now.

United got a few injuries as well.
3 Nil down and that's a great result, but still see City winning it

The 'special one' has already said he would love to come back, but not sure Roman would want him.

Me personally, I want AVB to stay and rebuild the side properly which will take one more summer(but if we don't finish top 4 this year he win be gone, which is sad).

Yeah they do. I don't mean it as an excuse, I was just pleased with the way we played against to me the best side in the league(you'll finish above Citeh) with the calibre of players we were missing(Drogba, Kalou, Mikel, Lampard, Ramires, Cole, Terry).

Those penalties killed us. United players scored 5 of the 6 goals.

The penalties definitely helped in getting us that point. Chelsea being 3-0 up and for us to comeback and draw was a good effort. If we won then it would of rounded a amazing comeback for Man United.

Yeah lucky penalties, Chelsea got a crap one last week to.The ones I notice they don't give is defenders pulling forwards after corners are taken!

Happens all the time. If they started to award penalties I'm sure it would cut that out.

The United side on Sunday was a shadow of its former self though. poor gk, defence and midfield. To be 3-0 and blow it is criminal.

It was actually one of De Gea's best games for Man U to date. Some of the saves were world class.

De Gea made three fantastic saves in the second half to keep them level, his stop of Mata's free kick was pretty special.

Don't agree with MU being a shadow of their former selves either, they will be PL champs IMO.

Plus it's hard to win when the ref gives the other team two goals.

I guess the intriguing thing about Man U in the PL era is that they get bagged and written off year after year yet continue to be one of the most difficult to beat, competitive mothers on the pitch.

The most interesting thing about these past two years is that last year was the final hurrah of an aging team (yet they still won the PL), and this year is supposed to be a 'rebuilding' year to a large extent, with Jones, Young and De Gea being added to the team (yet they are top 2, with a great chance of winning it again). All three of them will be better again next year, so this really is a transition year for them, especially when you consider that there should be a midfielder purchased in the off-season (Scholesy's comeback is the ultimate stop-gap -- "who do you replace Paul Scholes with?", "Uh, how about Paul Scholes?").

I think Giggs will actually be the hardest person to replace in the long-term (other than Sir Alex himself).. for all the lack of focus on him, he is still the only common denominator to all their results in the PL era, and was close to the Man of the Match against Chelsea. I guess they don't have to worry about replacing him if he's going to play until he's 50!

Shot stopping has never been De Gea's problem.

But yes Chef you are right they got lucky with the ref, I mean Chelsea should have been down to 10 men in the first half but we will ignore that.
