He's doing his best to accelerate his omission from the team today. He looks like he's trying to catch the ball with chopsticks.

Good thing Hussey was in the slip to play back up wicketkeeper on the Tendulkar dismissal today.

The batting is still the big question mark?

The top three is a major concern for Australia and I can't see anyone stepping up to the plate. Even though Ponting and Hussey made big scores, there is no plan to replace them (or seemingly) and well Haddin, say no more.

As for the bowling, well its luck more than anything. If it wasn't for injuries, we would still playing the same attack which has proven to be not so good.

I think they have. The players they have brought in lately(over the last three series) all look like they could become long term players. It's hard to make to many changes when there aren't that many options out there.

Now if only Paine was fit.
          The curse is dead.

              How do they do this?
I don't know alot about cricket but I assume it isn't easy to find a replacement for one of the best #3s In Australian history?
I know they have moved Punter down to #4 and are trying Marsh / Kawaja etc in the 3 spot. I'm guessing they hope one of these guys cement in and then filter newbies through #4 / #5 when Ponting and Hussey move on???

Back on topic, Haddin isn't even moving his feet now. Just spectating balls going past him to the boundary without any effort.

Agree with SS, Wade should be in. But I do believe they are waiting for Paine to get fit, so Haddin stays in by default. It's not right, but seems that Australian cricket will always have favourites!

To be fair, Paine is pretty good when fit.
But I do get what you are saying, why not give the deserving a go and make Timmy earn his place.

Even when Paine is fit should he really just jump straight into the Aussie side? Will he have enough time to show some shield form before the comp ends? It seems very risky to be counting on the return of a player in 3 months time when there is a perfectly viable option in Wade or even Hartley.

You cannot blame the selectors for the poor batting performance. Which players should come into the top order? Who do the replace?

Maybe you can blame selectors of the past. We have held on to player so long without blooding youth. I don't like this try a new player at the 3 spot.

Been away for a couple of days, but i,m glad i,m not the only one on this bandwagon now. Wade is a million times better gloveman, for a start. Our esteemed vice captain couldnt catch a cold today.

Yep, should have started 2-3 years ago really, maybe more. People tend to forget that Punter played at 5/6 for 5 years before moving into the #3 role he dominated for the next 8 years. Clarke has never been anything other than a 5/6 (failed stint at 4). Yet here we are just saying to the new guys, go on get used to test cricket at #3.
