Problem with the side at the moment is if you give Clarke the big A from being captain who is going to be captain?

Ponting. Cinderella story and from the old boys club.

Is there a more selfish cricketer than Shane Watson? There is no 'i' in team but there certainly is in selfish!

Wasn't happy when i heard Watson was going to open in the series. His whole career has proven he will not & can not bat all day & for opening batsman that has to be a pre-requisite. Having said that we don't have the luxury of batsman in any position knocking the door down.

Agree with Mantis, Clarke has to bat at 4. I don't care what his average is at 5 compared to 4. He is our best batsman by the length of the Flemington straight & needs to be at 4.

And it starts at the top and Cricket Australia's decision in to create the KFC Big Bash has ruined our test team. Time for James Sutherland to get the arse and time for our country to focus on whats important... Test cricket.
The Aussie Test team almost makes the Bulldogs look like a cohesive unt.

I've never seen a batting line up riddled with so many technical deficiencies. You're 100% correct with the Big Bash comment. World cricket's short sighted greedy obsession with T20 cricket has destroyed the art of batting and has created ego centric monsters out of blokes that can't hit their way out of paper bag if places on a pitch with a modicum of swing or seam.

Australian cricket is going to be in the doldrums for years, unless the games's administration puts Test cricket at the top of the priority list.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Agree Mantis Clarke should be four. Your best batsmen bat in the top 4 IMO.
Agree on Sutherland, I think their obsession with making money is to the detriment of our longer form of the game.

Well there is a review for the times that you can 100% be sure that the umpire was wrong.

I was thinking that we should go with a mid-late 30's player, and it helps him that he's from the 'good ol boys' club too.

Yeah probably Katich but Clarke seems to have been smart and pissed off any suitable replacements so he stays in the job.
Hasn't Clarke had disagreements with Katich, Symonds and Watson ?
Seems Clarke might be the problem if you look at the common denominator, makes me wonder why Hussey and Ponting retired all of a sudden.

Ponting didn't retire all of a sudden he was terrible for a long time.
Hussey I'm fairly sure didn't really like Clarke too much.

                              Time to drop Agar?

I would keep playing agar but I think he is struggling has a hip problem, only 19 and what he had to do in the first test, a short break and another test full of days out in the field, not sure his body is ready for it and taking its toll
