    Re: The World Cup Thread.

Did well both had their chances, so no hard luck story. The Netherlands certainly did some miles the last 2 weeks, will no doubt be up there again in 2018.

Just can't see Argentina getting close although Hummels looks doubtful which would hurt. I'll be going 3-1 Germany.

Loved the tears on the Argentine supporters after the Netherlands missed the first penalty. By the end most of them were in tears. I holidayed there many years ago and they are a very emotional people. Hope they can win the final.

Third place final on early around 6am this morning. Who do you think will win out of Brazil and Netherlands? Lots of pressure on Brazil to get some respectability back.

Hard to know what Brazil's mental state will be like.

I think Holland are the better side, but there's quite a few variables in this game.

Well done to the Dutch to get third, great team effort

United fans should be excited to have VG guiding their ship this coming season.

For a match of little consequence I was really pleased how Holland played. Actually very pleased how they went throughout the tournament (except for the game against Argentina - thought they could have approached that game differently)- with a young inexperienced side they will be a force to come with over the next few years.

On to tomorrow's final - as much as I hate to say it but I want Germany to win. On paper they should but Argentina have the Messi factor. Whilst he has been good so far he really needs to step up and take the game on for Argentina to win.

I want Germany to win too, so Schurrle can return to England with a win and because there football is so easy on the eye. This is a great group of players.

Me too. Watching right now. Also, it would be totally embarrassing for Brazil if their neighbour won the world cup.

                  So far exciting game.

Germany win, with goal in 25 min mark of extra time.

                        Same here.

Congrats Germany. Best team all tournament. Deserved winners.

Pretty exciting game despite only the 1 goal being scored.

It's a shame the World Cup has to end, such a great event.

It is a shame, but at least the EPL season is just around the corner and it's shaping as the most even and most exciting one ever.

It was a fantastic WC. Agree that it is a pity it has to end but at least we can all get some decent sleep.

Looking forward to Euro 2016 already.

Yep agree, fantastic WC. Congrats to Germany fully deserving winner. Argentina are heartbroken as they should be, they put up
                                A hell of a fight.

Rodriguez Golden Boot winner was a Fantastic effort, FWIW he was 100-1.

Can't say the same for Messi winning the Golden Ball, 4 goals all in a weak Group Stage. Dissapointing last two, didn't cover
many kms and his only touch in the box against the Dutch was the Penalty. Many more ahead of him.
